Just been to see a STi5 Type RA V-Limited
#2
I bought my v5 ra after it had been here for 12 months with no history. Just make sure you build in the price of a full service into the price. Notwithstanding some nervewracking tales of engine blows on here lately (I always thought they were reliable!), if it looks good and feels good and the seller seems genuine (I know all good con men are good!), and the price is right, do it!
HPI and an RAC / AA inspection are obligatory aren't they??
Ken

RA dont have rear wash wipes AFAIK (well mine hasnt ) as they are just extra weight and nothing ever stays in the rear vision very long anyway . If you are dubious abotu a model check the model code on the VIN plate against the SIDC FAQ .

I've just edited the post, I may have "walked away" but I've just rung them and put my deposit on.
Got a real good price so I can keep a bit of cash in the bank incase it blows up
Can't wait to pick her up.

Checked the chassis number on SIDC, it's a GC8F4DD 300 WRX RA STi5 4 door V-Limited Special edition
Although not sure why SIDC has it as 300bhp, all the other sites list it as 280
Chris I thought that when I drove it The rev's just fly by in every gear
No pictures I'm afraid
Gonna book it in for a full valet when I get it, pictures should be appearing soon after that

I think when they register it they have to 'say' its 280 brake for legal reasons. But in fact they are actually quicker.
Its like when the R34 came out it was apparently 280 brake, but there were rumour of it being closer to 350-400 brake??? I may be wrong...

Cheers Tony, can I be in your 2 door club even though mine's got 4 doors
Would of liked a 2 door, but these babies don't come up that often.
This is what I've got (Not this car, but exactly the same, bar the bi-level spoiler, mines got the STi5 Style one)

congrats megastream,
do yourself a favour, fit an upratred fuel pump from mark aigin, and an uprated oil pump from roger clarke motorsport.
These are not mods as such and will not change performance in anyway, but they are currently the most favoured methods of preventing existing engine failures whose cause were previously undetermined.
Will set you back about £300, but if you are dubious about any hostory or have any concerns about the car, I would recommend these to absolutely every owner on here as pre emptive protective mods.

that's EXACTLY the same as mine that pic !!!!!!!!!
better pop home quick and check it's still there !!
although the side indicators on mine are clear,
but everything else is the same !?
it's a circuit edition ( apparently )
the bi-level wing is off a s201

Thanks for the comments
SideShowBob no brown stains on my seats ok
Chris you know TOO much about these cars
Adam, do you know whats involved in uprating the fuel and oil pumps? I'm planning on a major service ASAP including cam belt.
Any idea where can I get hold of a genuine Sti air filter?

Mega Stream.
The fuel pum is relatively easy to change, the oil pump is not so easy but only because you have to take the cambelt off. If you are getting a new one fitted anyway, that would be th ideal time to get it done.
Any company doing your cambelt change can change your fuel pump at the same time. You could easily do it yourself too.
Regarding the filter, ring mark aigin @ lateral performance for all advice, he will be able to help you.

Well pleased for you John.
Although, like I said last night, im a bit envious of your extended 5th Gear.
Its the only real drawback, but pales to insignificance when you find yourself ALWAYS having to back off.
Agree fully with the idea of a FULL service and pump upgrade. Also a Knock link would not go amiss.
Subaru do a little glove box part to fit below a single Din stereo in the standard large hole. If you do a search you should find a thread with the part number.
I also know of a rear window and wiper if you really wanted one.
Hope to see it at the next meet.

mega stream, I am awake too!!!
finished my last exam yesterday afer worrying about them for 9 months, woke up from anxiety, and cant convince my brain they are finished.
Perhaps it is simpathetic insomnia.
V excited for you.
What is this talk about din size holes? I have always had imprezas with double din slots and have had all configs of stereo installation. Looked over the thread and couldnt see the question was in reply to.
Where do you live in the country? jsut wondered if you were round london/herts parts. would love to see it in the flesh.
Have been without the 22B since january now awaiting massive transformation, but will let you know when it comes back. Will give you ideas when it comes to modding.
If you dont do any other mods, can I please just beg you to consider the ones I suggested. I am not sure which is more beneficial as many have said to me the oil pumps may make no difference to failure rate, its just that the relative proportion who do have the modded ones installed are obviously not going to fail as frequently as there are far fewer of them out there.
Fuel pump is without question. Even standard cars can runlean up the top without them, and the fuel pump requires no other mods, it just makes sure that the fuel the ecu is expecting to be available is there when it tells the injectors to inject.
If you need any firther help, I have to say I have met the right people in the business, and certainly know the dos, donts, and who to trust (sadly from experience)., and especially if/when it comes to modding. would be only too happy to help.
Hope you dont explode with excitement. I know I am, and my car could still be a few months away.
