Just curious?
I intend to buy a MY2003 and leave it exactly standard, not even change the indicator lenses to white.
Did you think this when you first bought your Impreza or am I alone?
I had the same idea with my motorbike, keep it standard I thought but slowly over the months a race can has been fitted, power commander, and now a different screen.
Do un-modified Subarus exsist and if they do are they owned by the "mature owner"
Cheers

I had morrette head lights fitted when i bought it because ididn't like the bug eye (MY02), but inteneded not to touch it, especially as it is contract hire and i won't get a penny back in 2 years. But as time goes buy i am getting more and more tempted, so much so that when i have my first service i will probably have a super chip fitted (+40BHP), also considering STI7 spoiler, grill mod, new springs. I did the same sort of thing to my GSXR600 before i threw it down the road at Cadwell twice!

I have a totally bog standard MY97 Turbo 2000. Don't know much under the bonnet, and I've had it 2 years and still get excited when I drive it, so why modify.

Yep, totally standard, if you don't count a pair of Philips powerbulbs as a mod!
Had the car a year and a month. Graduated from a 306 TD, so while drooling over the backboxes on other cars, I'm still happy with it as standard - it's limits are still far beyond mine. Occasionally find myself wanting more overtaking ability though.
The secret to keeping a car standard:
1) Be massively in debt.
That's it really, if you can't afford to mod, or to pay the increase in insurance, you don't mod!
Dan.
Oh, and it's at 97 Catalunya...

I agree with Chiark, this place is definitely a bad influence if you want to keep your car standard.
I shall have to consult my IE restricted site list if & when the car arrives

Superchips just lie to your ecu, so it thinks its running lower pressure than it is, so turbo dies quicker. I think. Which is bad.
Although I picked up their leaflet at the NEC and they offer guarantees and claim no shortening of engine life...

Pete Lewis did this about a year ago, more as a dig at gold wheels IIRC.
Loads of people answered, loads of people "almost" had a standard car. But the most often used word in that thread was "except".
I think the simple answer is "no"! And quite rightly, too!

I have an umodded MY99 and am definately not yet mature! Have a momo gear ****, and thats it. Am thinking of starting with a quickshift at next service - does anyone know if this affects insurance ?? Following this, I may go for PPP in about a years time, although my dealer recommends having a suspension upgrade aswell (£)........(?)

SUPERCHIP I agree no good for Impreza at all. I would strongly recommend the ECU Tek and I'm sure they have or are about to release this for the MY02. My brother and various mates have these on their MY99 and 00's and they are the dogs

It's scoobynets fault!!!
I sit here reading and list my next set of mods.. then go home and think no I cannot do it.. next day on here again and the list gives re-written..
Mods I have done are a huge improvement though so I am not complaining.

Totally standard STi3, it goes plenty fast for me . As for cosmetic mods, I don't really see the point. I do loads of miles and I think it's pointless having new alloys, bigger spoiler etc. as i don't even keep it particulary clean.
Gave my car the full treatment, wash, polish, wax, etc.about 2 months ago parked it an a carpark and came back to two nice foot print dents in the passengar door
Never had any probs like that when its been dirty!
Sad state of affairs, but that's the way it is.

Just given in and gone for a prodrive backbox. Only been on there 2 weeks and already planning downpipe & brakes.
I had planned to keep it standard but after 6 months reading posts here I gave in....and glad of it

Thanks to all these stupid power mods, I've had to change loads of geaboxes early this year. I think before my next trip to the pod, I'm gonna have to get them lateral performance gear set as I know that my car would creep up in power over the coming months.

I agree with you guys - I totally blame Scoobynet. I was well happy with my MY02, even the looks (I didn't buy it for that after all) until I came on here! Once you get used to the power you want more more more! Now the mods list get altered every day, after reading on here and checking my bank balance!
I also agree with whoever it was who said you will deffo eventually want to hear a proper scoobie burble and get a backbox.
Now:
TSL Group N backbox
Eibachs
White blinky bits
Next:
Morettes
Large Wing
Downpipe and centre section
ITG
