I notice those GTR guys have had a photo competition on their site (http://www.gtr.co.uk/html/)

I wondered if we could/should have one? It could be fun, and would make a nice change in the members gallery from Blue/red/yellow/green/RB5/P1 corner threads

I'm not sure how it would work, maybe Blowdog could tell us how the GTR one went. Or we could all post pics in members gallery, then someone could record the votes by email and anounce the winner. I would be happy to do that.

It could be split into categories, such as Jap/Import, UK, 5 door, Track shot, not scooby (so we can involve non scooby owning scoobynetters) and non turbo (i.e. sport and beefed up GX's)

can be exclude the scoobs that are in companies i.e. tsl as they just have too much to spend! we wouldn't stand a chance! only joking yeah, it is a good idea.

OK, so heres how I see it working. We'll have the following categories as a starter, ppl can suggest more:

Jap/Import (Not cheam euro imports of UK style cars, but cars fom farther afield such as Japan, Aus & USA etc, all subaru models)

UK cars (Saloons & 5 door, all subaru models)

Best action/track picture (all cars?)

Tart Car (Especially for trouser, salsa-king & co)

Non Scooby

NA scoobs (Sports, GX, justy! etc)

Dare I suggest best (should that be worst) squashed scoob (as long as its your own car, to stop peeps posting other peoples missfortune)

Then I can start a thread in members gallery for each category, entrants will then post their pics on the apropriate thread.

Voting can be to a specific mail address, which I can provide, Category in the subject to ease sorting. I will record the results in a file which can be independanly validated.

After a set date the winner or top three in each category will be published on scoobynet (Or even in True Grip??)

There may be a few flaws in my plan, like if we dont get enough entries. Feel free to shoot me down

I think this is a seriously good idea, and wonder whether it would be worth doing it properly. ie get together a prize or two, and run the best in True Grip, either for members to vote on, or just to show the winners.

To be honest, I've seen a few pix over the last couple of years that were excellent, and which deserved to be reproduced properly.

Any comments?

RichS - I was thinking that they should all be arty to some degree, rather than best car, we would be looking for best photo. Except for the squashed ones! Weve seen pictures of each others cars & mods before, what I was thinking was magazine style pictures, of your car looking good.

In each category its not realy the car that would be judged, but the composition of the picture, lighting etc. Have a look at the winners on the GTR sit to get my meaning.

oh, and how long does the turbosport uploader hold pics for. Is there a risk of loosing the earliest entries, or the uploader exploding form over use?

I'm just trying to draw up some rules/guidelines, I was thinking that you can only enter one picture per category, but may enter more than one category?

As you say, it's got to be about the pix, not the car. It's a Photographic Competition after all.

It would be good to see some pix that capture the atmosphere of the event or location, as well as some good static shots. You don't need to have pro gear to produce a good pic.

As the deadline for the next TG is Friday, it's too late for this issue, so maybe we could spend a little time deciding the categories, and in the mean time try to scrape together a few prizes.

Been giving it some more though, and wondered if it would be better to apoint some judges rather than take votes by mail? Unfortunaley judges would not be able to enter tho for obvious reasons. But the decisions would faster and easier to manage.

Maybe we could ask the GTR Register guys to judge, since its their idea ive poached (as spotted by Blowdog )

Anyone have a lady/any ladies fancy posing on mine? I've got plenty of photographic gear to experiment with. And the free time now.
