Question

Just wondered if this was on the cards?

For that matter, is there a wagon version of the current grey STi?

I have seen an Sti 7 Wagon - import.

Interestingly it did not have the uprated Brembos front and rear as the saloon has. It was fitted with standard four-pots on the front and two pots at the back.

The sedan has huge brembos as standard at both ends.

Other differences were less obvious.

Thumbs down

My dealer said no UK STi wagon when asked last Friday :-(

Guess you'll have to import one.

Shame really, there's got to be a market for it, my wagon is my only car, so it has to do Tescos, track days, be fun, carry a dog and future offspring due next March. Can't do all that in much else (although there was a P1 with 2 child seats in the back at the last airfield day I did).

Simon (98 UK wagon).

No UK STi Wagon! Come on subaru get you're bloody act together! not everyone want's a saloon.

i'm with simon in that I need the wagon for kids, shopping n dog. But it's more practicle and stealthy to have a wagon.

Looks like the next car will be a jap import STi wagon then.

Bummer! I really fancied an STi Wagon as my next car, especially as Baby Dicko was born last Wednesday! I reckon there would be a market for these too and that it's a missed opportuynity on Subaru UK's part. Wonder if anywhere else in Europe will get them?

I WANT AN STi 7 WAGON AND I WANT BREMBO BRAKES ON IT..... AND I WANT IT NOW!!!!

Sorry stamping of feet is now over. C'mon IM, you've got to bring us the wagon in.
I've test driven a well run in MY01 and thought that it did feel considerably slower than my bog standard MY99, and so I don't want one, but the STi may make me feel different.

Thanks for the comments.

SUK can still look forward to my £25K (or whatever it is) next March in return for an MY02 Wagon + PPP. However, I for one would be extremely tempted to dig deeper if a UK STI wagon was an option.

Just can't see myself going for an import - UK tests of the grey STI haven't been very positive, still plenty of negativity about servicing, insurance, residuals... I know it's horses for courses and all that but just doesn't fit my situation.

I'd buy one if available in 2.5 years time. Plenty of time for them to get their act together.

The STi wagon in Japan doesn't get Brembos. It also misses out on the ali suspension arms and the option of the font LSD. The front track is narrower as a result and the front wings are a different shape (less flared).

Drive one first guys! I did and was sorely tempted to plump down the readies.

The Subie 4 pots are lighter than the Brembo package - mostly due to not having dinner plate sized disc rotors - and to be honest, while the tyres and pads are not really up to the task, a couple of choice mods would make it a marvellous car in all aspects.

While one may want wider rubber and the Brembos, you can get the mods for less and end up with a perfectly decent Q mobile (esp. if debadged).

Not directed at you Gareth, but this thing about imports being a problem is absolute rubbish.

I have driven an import for 2.5years and have only just had any problems at all.

I broke the oil spreader ring in the gearbox on the track - it was replaced and the 'STi' part turned out to be a plain old UK part, just like most of the gearbox. So cheap and no parts problem.

The second is more difficult - my rear wash wipe motor has become noisy - will replace it from a breakers.

Overall the car has had excellent servicing with NO parts availability problems.

More of a problem is that the MY01 car has been a disaster in Japan. This will mean significantly less tuning options from the world of the Oriental Fast and Furious, unlike previous Scoobs.

Residuals were an issue, but all Scoobs are seeing the same problem arising now, still better than average, but certainly not exception now.

As I said right at the top - the STi 7 Wagon doesn't get Brembos in the UK either
