Question

Got my first Scooby a few months ago, great car! I'm thinking about changing the standard pedals in my Turbo MY99 to drilled ones ... any comments which are the best ( Sparco? ) and if its worthwhile ...

Cheers

Unhappy

I got some Sparco pedals for my birthday. Asked the dealer to fit them for me at the 30k mile service, but when they tried they said they couldn't because they would have had to drill through the join between the pedal and the arm.

Although obvioulsy Tony got his done!

yeah - i've got them in the ITR; the standard pedals were miles apart which made heel & toe'ing almost impossible.

They were a complete pig to fit but they did the job. Not something i would want to take on for purely cosmetic reasons.

Tony..

Looks like you pedals are on upside down...!

the bulge in the top right of the accelerator pedal should down at the bottom left to aid Heel & Toeing...!

I've got drilled Sparco pedal as well although slighty different to your's.. Heel & Toeing is easier with the drilled pedals as you don't have to stretch your foot as far..!

I've fitted the Momo ones from Scoobysport. Easy to fit. They go over the oem ones with no drilling.

I drilled the holes making sure to miss the supporting bar attached behind (If you have a look you'll see what i mean)
and also leaving enough room for the nut to fit on the underside as well..

You need to leave a gap between the drill hole and the support bar of 5mm i suppose...(so that you can get the nut on the alan bolt..!)

Make sure you take the rubbers the pedals off as well..

A bit of a fiddly job but certainly not hard..!!

This is all very good looking at STI and WRX pedal sets, but the question still remains on how people has affixed the sparco ones ??!

Cool

I've got the sparco ones. Dealer fitted them for free at the 30K service. they drilled the accellerator one into the pedal itself so everything's nice and secure. Makes H&T a whole lot easier - which in turn makes the windows get rolled down, which in turn makes a better noise...

I find now I heel and toe subconciously even in our other cars where it's completely unnecessary - e.g., Clio 172 (ok, maybe not completely unnecessary and it does have Al pedals) and Xsara Picasso (which doesn't. Yet)

Fitted the Sparco set to my MY00. Actually, I've only done clutch and Brake

While I was Fcukin' around behind the accelerator pedal, i dropped the nut and it wedged itself in behind the pedal and the arm. The only way i can think ov ever getting it out is by tipping the car on its roof and shaking it

Drilling was a pain in da arass due to again the arms and where they join the pedal. You have to drill off centre or risk drilling the pedal Off

If you are gonna do it yaself, get the momo type that require no drilling

Mikey,

Have you tried getting the nut with a long magnet rod?

Cheers,

You should try fitting pedals to a Westfield.

I had to remove the steering wheel go head first down the tunnel on my back and hook my ankles over the roll bar. It was one basterd fiddly job I can tell you. I had to drill and attach with allen bolts. There is also no room down there to twiddle much more than your thumb. And I was in this posn on and off for over an hour.

Good job no one had a camera.
