Is there any way to keep warranty on Euro MY01 if PPP'd
#1
I have a euro import MY01 and found out a while ago that if I have the car PPP'd I lose my entire one year warranty, even for non engine claims
Has anyone managed to find a way round this? Other than to buy a U.K car which I couldn't afford.
I dont want to risk losing my warranty within the first year. Knowing my luck if I did the car would die on me and cost a fortune.
Cheers Nathan..

Well, think of it this way - if you lose the warranty you may as well consider going for a Link ECU (if available yet). To be honest, us MY00 PPP owners have probably been losing our warranties as well. If your 01 is running well, then I personally would just risk it.

Nathan, had to come in on this one as I'm waiting on an MY02 import, due december.
Who told you that you'd lose your warranty by having a PPP.
Surely if the dealers in the UK have to honour the manufacturers warranty regardless of where the car came from in europe then the same rules apply to mods?

Ozzy/Boultsy,
This has now come from several dealerships I have tried and Prodrive. It goes something like this. Any engine mod will invlaidate the warranty on any car, Euro or UK supplied, however as a marketing tool Subaru UK will still honour any warranty claims on UK cars when fitted with PPP.
Davyboy,
I saw your thread and couldn't offer any technical advice. The only thing I can say is that Pete Croney at SS may be able to loan you a standard exhaust when it goes back to the dealers to be checked out. That way the car is standard and the warranty still applies. This is a bit more difficult with the PPP ECU !

Cheers for the feedback Nathan,
marketing tool or not they are treating the UK warranty as different to an import'd one, are they really allowed to do this?
Didn't they initially try a similar thing for getting out of honouring import'd warranties and then gave in to pressure/somw EU law, who know's I might have to look into this though.
