Hmm. I just had a look at the RSOC board. There are posts in there that say exactly what they were berating us for this morning

the police say she was doing 70mph and so was the other cars so that makes an impact of 140mph
May i respectfully suggest that if there is enough cash raised (and im sure there will be )we do something nice for the other Lady and child concerned with this incident?

2 MAIN reasons really...

1) They deserve it too if not more so, as they were completely innocent and were just in the wrong place at the wrong time
.
2) It will show the world that sports car owners clubs are not ALL full of mindless to$$ers like Scoobynet
Great! Rip off our ideas, then call us mindless tossers

Sorry
The link related was to the wrong thread (Gary's crashed car and not to the accident ) so apologies if we were a bit hasty with our conclusions as on that thread it seemed like very bad driving error but CraigH put us right and posted the correct bit so we will donate if you give us the info where to

Thumbs up

Well said Tony.

That's why I locked, rather than delete the thread. So that people could find out where to send money IF THEY WANTED.

All,
Please don't turn this thread into a continuation of the other one

I'm confused. The entire RSOC board agree she was out of her depth in the car - and was therefore beyond the limits of car/driver combination. And yet i'm called every name under the sun for saying it.

If someone posts a begging letter and wrong information - its our fault

If people are too quick to judge, and write and submit a reply who's fault is it?? Not the person who posted up the original post, that's for sure.

The gesture of asking for donations is a sweet one, and I recognise the heart behind it. But as was pointed out, the teacher and child should also have donations going to them. It's was a sad accident all around.

Question

No offence intended, but why should anyone get a donation anyway? It's an RTA - there are thousands every day. The insurance should cover any requirements of both the driver and any third parties.

As an RS owner, and a donater to this cause, I'm not entirely sure what's to be gained from asking Scoobynet to contribute.

When Anita hears that the RSOC has put together a little something for her or whatever, then that's very nice because Gary is an RS member. Considering Gary has no affiliation with Scoobynet, I could understand people expressing concern, but it seems a little strange to ask non-related people to contribute financially.

Not starting anything here whatsoever..... just thought I'd state the obvious as I saw it.

Zag,
The post that was provided made it seem on initial reading that it was severely bad driving on the behalf of the cosworth driver, this is why we are apologising due to the fact that we were given incorrect information (follow the link on the other post and see what you would make of it at first reading).
We dont want this to become another slagging match as it was due to being mislead by the original post.

Cool

RichardPON - we have a nail + head interface situation.

Seems to me that GarnetFox is the one who's completely to blame here. She made the dumb suggestion about donations, and she posted the wrong info which misled people to the cause/driver/scenario of the accident.

I suggest we start a witchhunt and flame/humiliate/abuse GarnetFox.

Jason please could you edit your reply and remove your link to the RSOC - I am asking for the Scoobynet link post to be removed from the RSOC bb as well. This isn't solving anything. Things have been said with many rash statements and there is no point in letting it simmer on.

I find the bit about "reputations" funny.

RS drivers..... don't make me laugh, the public has a far worse opinion about Gary and Tracy in their beat up Ford than probably any other make of car. (bar Nova and Saxo drivers)

Untouchables mode on
You wanna know how you do it? Here's how, they pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send on of his to the morgue! That's the scoobynet/RSOC way
Untouchables mode off

Quick comment.......

Is it too hard to keep on topic for even a minute?

Someones posted an apology then all this 8ollox about reputations etc starts.

FFS you lot - is it half term? do we have to have this "my dads bigger than your dad" bull5hit all the time, including on serious, relevant posts?

If roles were reversed I think we'd all expect a bit of respect be extended - not expect comments straight from a School playground

Not all RS drivers are a Gary or a Tracy and nor are their cars 'beaten up old Fords' The majority of RS's are very well maintained...so can't see why you are laughing

People should take the attitude that it's each to their own for the choice of car they drive, instead of dissing other marques all the time.

Lynne - Some of do know that not all Cossies are badly maintained. I have seen some really nice examples of the car. By the same token some Scoobs aren't in the best of condition either.

I would like to think that if the full story had been available sooner then the response might have been different.

TBH, who really gives a flying squirrel poo what people drive? The cars that people own fall into 2 categories, IMO -

a) those that need one to get from A-B
b) those that can afford their choice of car to get from A-B via C, D, E, F.....Z etc.

I don't own a Scoob, I own a 300ZX, that doesn't mean I blomble about on here chanting "Scoobs are Cr4p, Down with Scoobs".... My choice to drive a Zed - yours to drive a Scoob / RS / XJ220 / Micra whatever...

So someone lost it on the road - not the first time, not the last time that will happen, regardless of vehicle. I hope that whomever was involved has a speedy and total recovery.
