Been talking to someone, I won't say who. They have a 97 'P' reg 5 door turbo and reckon that it has the 215 bhp engine, now if memory serves, it was MY98 that first came with this engine. So... Is the person telling porkies?

I used to have a MY97 turbo.

I believe the spec sheet at the time said 208BHP.

You should keep in mind this is a very conservative estimate on Subarus part. If you look at dyno results for standard cars you can often see an Additional 20BHP over whats quoted.

If you add Scoobysport Downpipe and Backbox, K&N 57i induction kit to a MY97 you can expect to see approx 254BHP and 228 lb/ft.

Ask some more questions about the car...maybe its had a new engine.

I thought it was the MY99 that was the first with the 215bhp Phase 2 boxer?

I believe Subaru's figures are 208 for MY 97 and 211 for MY98 but then I could be wrong.

Question

I thought the figures for both MY97/MY98 were 208bhp which is 211PS?

Regardless, as Ian says it seems to be an extremely conservative figure anyway!!!

Cheers
Alastair

Thanks for the info. Person says it's not new engine, but stanard one. Methinks he is lying about the power output, but 208 is good enough anyway!
