Unhappy

I was jet washing my car the other day when the brush end fell of as I was cleaning my front wing... The result was a scratch which wasn't very deep but left a light blue line on my dark blue paintwork. I tried to polish it out with colour magic, but it only faded slightly. Can anybody recommend a good product for this kind of thing? If not, would a body repair shop have any other ways of removing it apart from a re-spray of the whole front wing (which really isn't necessary as it's only fairly minor, just a bit annoying)?

Halfords to a scratch repair kit - cleaning pad, colour stick (looks like a lipstick !) & a polishing cloth.
I have heard varied reports on these - certainly it wasn't that good on my silver Scoob - but have heard that its better on darker colours....anyone comment ?

Cool

Chips Away can sort without having to spray the whole wing - reasonably priced too I think (less than 100 quid). Or try AutoGlym Paint renovator, has worked wonders on several of my families cars - I'm sure there is a Wax Wizard equiv but not tried it.....

Also - colour magic is a bit of a gimic really - all modern paint is sprayed on and then a clear laquer applied over the top, therefore you aren't recolouring the paint - only the laquer......

edited coz I leaned who to spol

I`ve used the Turtle Wax "Chipstick" refered to by Ro and it works well on my dark blue mica. Much better than Subaru touch-in paint which I found to be no where near the right colour. It isn`t permanent, of course but it does a good job.

Thumbs up

If the scratch is not completely through to the primer, the white underneath, then try masking off round about the scratch and apply a few coats of clear laquer ,worked for me many a time !
Bought out of Halfords.

Red face

Sorry ,should have said "all the way through to the metal"
Sometimes this trick will be enough to disguise the offending mark without major work and cash! DIY.
