I'm after changing my steering wheel. I have been putting it off long enough, but when your Mondeo has a nicer steering wheel than your Scoob things need to be done. However, no one seems able to tell me if this effects any other parts of the car (MY97) Do the belts have pre tensioners? If so will they be effected by disconnecting the air bag? Will the airbag light be on all the time?
Please help!

No pretensioners on mine MY97. Check to see if there's any wires going to the seatbelt recepticle, if not then no pretensioners. If you have a passenger airbag you'll need to put a resistor over the driver's side airbag connector so that the system thinks the bag is still connected, this will keep the light off.

If you don't have a passenger airbag, then the system will have no airbags to control and you might as well take the easy option and remove the bulb.
