Question

***Apologies to mods, need max visibility on this***

Anyone know how I can get a sheared ally wheelnut off? Not a lot left of it to get a wheelbrace or socket on and it seems super tight for some reason.

Any help greatfully received.

Is there enough to drill it and get a stud extractor on there ?

spray with plenty wd40 and leave for a hour. keep trying with correct size socket. if that dont work, go to next socket down and smack it on with a metal hammer and the short extension bar. if that fails, centre punch the very middle and drill in deeper than the head with a 5mm drill. keep going up in drill size till you can twist the head off and remove the wheel. drill right down the middle again and increase the drill size until its just shy of the diameter of the bottom of the thread. pick out remains with small screwdriver then run a tap down it; M12 or 14 fine series it think. as bez would say 'jobs a goodun'.

Get your local garage or someone who can weld ,to weld a new wheelnut onto it.Undo using the new nut.
We had to do something similar a while ago when we bought a car with no key for the locking nuts!!!

It will depend on how much is left of your old one.

Ta muchly. Tricky one as the wheel is a forged ally item as well. Not that much space in the hole to work in.

Like the welding idea but will probably damage the wheel as there's not enough nut shank left to work on. Any other ideas gratefully received.

Thanks mods for your perseverance.

as allready said drill out completly , then tap , if its really tight i would not even bother with a stud extractor , if it brakes you have no chance of drilling it out .......
