I've just checked my tyre pressures on my MY99 with a small digital gauge (£15 from halfords)and they were all about 4lb low! Put them right and....... different car!
Those stick pressure guages are c**p, go and get a decent one today, it's well worth it

Yup agree 100%. I've never relied on the in-line gauges at the petrol station compressor.
I was told recently that if the air is free, the garage has no obligation to calibrate their gauges.
The digital gauges are great.
I also agree that it's surprising how, what might appear as a small thing, can make such a big difference to how the car feels.

Agree wholeheartedly - certainly makes a fair difference.
Mine with 215/45/17s is running about 32F/30R, which seems OK from wear point of view too. Any harder, it gets bouncy and noisier, any softer, you loose sharpness of turn in. That's on a MY02.
