I'm planning to buy my first impreza in the next few months, I'd had my heart set on 99 or 00 old shape, but with subaru cutting the cost of the 'bug eyes' the knock on effect could bring the first ones into my budget.

could anyone tell me if the old one is a better drive with more performance? or does the 01 have more to offer?

any advice would be gratefully accepted especially if you have owned both models. Be honest now!!!

Depends what you want from the car really & what expectations you have.

"Classics" have a better power to weight ratio and are a stiffer ride - "bug eyes" are better for motorways/family cars as softer and more "Grown Up".

Both cars are still great fun. Pesonally would get the bug eye but that is just my personal choice. Test drive both of them m8 and then you can make your own informed decision.

Everyone on hear has their own opinions, to which they are of course entitled - try not to be too swayed either way until you have tested for yourself.

I have just bought a v reg turbo2000, this now bei ng my second scooby. The classic is quicker in terms of getting up to speed and weighs slightly less and looks 200% better. The ne w shape however
is slightly quicker top end has a stronger body sh ell but looks
butt ugly,definatly requires moretti's.

Test both then make up your own mind.
