Question

Does anyone know if there is an alternative to Armourfend and what the prices are like?

I think that £90 to do the bonnet is a bit steep.

cling film or bubble wrap!?

Seriously though, Diamond brite (i think its called) or similar teflon coatings for the paintwork is another option and I think they cost around 200-300 mark for the whole car.. Chat to your dealer.

I don't think that will protect from stone chips though?

Wink

(Flamesuit on)

13000m and needs a respray

My car is also 1 yr old - 24000m and 6 small stone chips. Do we need to mention driving styles here
Sorry SimonH couldn't resist that one

On a serious note - the cars I have seen with Armourfend need care in applying it or else it looks like a jigsaw, and it still shows marks where stones have hit.

I have armourfend on my P1. What a waste of time that is, the car still looks like it has been shot blasted. I think it may even look worse with the armourfend on.

Bob, what are you saying?
Is the Armourfend letting the stones through to the paintwork? Is it peeling off?
Tell us what's wrong with it. You may be able to claim from Amourfend if it is sub standard.

I have the bottom lip armourfended on my P1 the stone chips just go straight through. The rest of the front does not look as bad as the bottom armourfended lip. I have peeled the armourfend off the small eye bolt cover and although it is chipped it does not look as bad as the parts with the armourfend. I have another friend who has the same problem also a P1.

I'm surprised!

I had Armourfend put on the whole front off my P1 and after 24K motorway miles my P1 does not look like it's been shot blasted.

Ok you can see where some of the larger stones have hit it but this does not seem to have damaged the paint work.

From what I've seen the stuff Subaru put on does not seem to be as thick as the Armourfend I have had put on mine.

BTW My P1 did not have any Armourfend on it from the factory, I paid an additional £700 to have this stuff put on.

Cheers,

Rob

P.S. I don't work for Armorfend or have any links with them.

Got 9 sets of Motormode protection in stock. Just like Armourfend but £85 a set. Pre 01 cars only and only does the front bits, not sides or mirrors.
