Fantastic,
Last night, coming home from work a learner driver loses control of his £150 ford escort in the pouring rain slides down the hill and front ends my car, im just sitting there watching him coming towards me then wallop both air bags go off, from end of the car flattened , bonnet, wings, bumper, lights, radiator, and god knows what else damage,
i am seriously pissed off, i had just ordered a MY03 STi,
Some before piccys
This could be the end of my subaru ownership, as if its written off im not getting a MY02 and the MY03 will not be here in time.
im off to have a look at it at the repair centre so some more piccy later for you to comment on.
Seriously pissed off

I know how u feel mate, mine got clobbered by a taxi last week. Noway as bad as yours from the damage youve mentioned, but my sympathy goes out to you. I dont think it will be written off though. Youre probably looking at a few thousand in repairs, 5K tops? The cars gotta be worth what 10-13K easy. Hope u can find a way of sorting it out and staying in scoob ownership.

If both airbags went off, you're already into serious money. My mate's Daewoo(!!!) was in a frontal, driver's airbag went off, and that's £1000 on the repair bill straight away. Result: a write off.
Sorry to hear of your prob, but at least no injuries! Cars CAN be replaced.

Just back from the repair shop, its getting inspected by the engineer as i type, current rough estimate for the cost of repair is approx £3-4K
If the repair get authorised and the parts are avail then it could be back on the road inside 2-3weeks
Here are the piccys
all the damage appears to be panel, lighting, and radiators, and of course the air bags, althought the radiator is pushed up hard against the pullys, so there may be some hidden damage
still sick

owwww very sickening. As far as the engine is concerned i reckon you'll be ok as u werent moving. So hopefully no valvetrain/piston damage. Cambelt and pulleys might need replacing thou As Alcazar said its only metal and can be fixed, at least u werent hurt. Look on the bright side mate, chin up etc.

Phil, that looks very similair to what happened to mine earlier this year. Apart from the panels and bonnet mine needed an air con condenser and a radiator. The total bill was about £3800. Is the car in town? I don't recognise the garage.
Mark
ps If you want to buy a second hand air con rad thats in good condition, I have one

thanks for all the reply's
The car is currently being repaired at a well know local bodywork shop in keswick, current estimate for parts only is £3,800 and depending on availability of parts i might get it back in approx 2 weeks
Then i am sad to say i will probably be parting company with the car, this car has been the best car i have had by a very long margin, but i just cannot see myself being comfortable with it. and here is the problem, what to replace it with, the MY01/02 is not for me, the MY03 is a unknown and prob not avail until april time, nothing else really catches my eye, except a EVO VI possibly,
we will have to wait and see...
