A mate has recently bought a my99 Impreza Turbo, it's Dark Blue and it has had a rear end shunt, he now has the details of the car, it was first registered on no plate, S 600 BYX, in the Basildon area, now b4 anyone shouts, 'thats Scoobysports car' theirs is S600BYS, so it isn't theires, I was thinking this is the best place to ask if anyone knows any of its history,,and to the guy who has it, I hope you don't mind me asking, I'm just curious.
Ron.
Needless to say, it's not registered as that now.
Edtited to add that the current owner has asked me to point out that it's not him thats asking the questions, it's me, I'm just curious.

Assuming it is the same car the plate used to be on, which was owned by someone who used to be well known on here, it was involved in a big accident
No doubt someone on here will have the details.

Erm, not sure whats happening here but S600 BYX should not be the reg on your car as i have the retention document at home and always have done since i bought it from DVLA in about 1998.
My car was registered in Surrey, not Basildon BTW so it shouldnt be my car! (I HOPE!)
Regards

You don't make it clear, is the car still on the S600BYX plate?
In the case of a write off, and the insurance co pay you in full for the car, unless you state quite clearly in writing that the plate remains your property and will NOT form part of the salvage, there have been numerous cases where the insurance company takes the plate as part of the salvage and sells it on.......
Not scaremongering, but the original owner of the plate might not be so any more, even if he has a retention certificate

Well,
the car in question is Dark Blue, it is NOT registered as S600 BYX now, but he has a document saying that it was until about 18 months ago, he has only recently bought the car, he has documents from HPI showing it clear, so if it has been written of previously, something bizarre has happened, as the owner runs his own bodyshop he has been right over the car, and can't find evidence of previous repair, so maybe if anyone knows anything, if you could mail me off this bbs it might be better.
impreza_dood@yahoo.co.uk will get to me.
The biggest reason I thought this a bit odd, is that the car has an intercooler splitter fitted, and when he got it, the front brakes were missing, and it was on the standard 16's, and also, having been registered BYX, it must have been quite a keen owner, hence my asking on here.
Many thanks.
Ron. (not the owner).

Yo, ScoobyX, aka dodgy surrey accountant, aka old sparring partner - hows things mate?
(Apologies for hijacking thread)
Ron, if its the same car as we think it is, it had a lot spent on it by a loving owner

Ron,
HPi will re-imburse you if it turns out dodgy... Sounds like it had been well modded, then returned to normal... I would get to a dealer for a once over.
