That car is IMO REALLY ugly - they've surpassed themselves at FHI this time.

I see that there is also both types of STi there (a normal and an RA C Type) and its nice to see a merc taking up 2 spaces too typical

Yeah, after seeing the motorshow pics, especially the rally one, I thought it looked good. But not so sure now.
The spoiler on that white STi looks utterly cack, really gay.

P.S. Flicking through evo the other day and the "photoshopped" picture in there the other month (with the narrower lights) was much better

I disagree completely.. I think it looks great...

Given the Classic Scoob was an understated boxy design, and the bug eye was/is ******* grim, I think the new one looks great.

A vast improvement - and I suspect a few more people might be tempted now it doesn't look like the **** end of a bus or a mid eighties box...

IMHO of course!

I think this is going to be a car you need to see in the flesh to decide if it looks good. At first, I thought it looked the dogs danglies but this set of photos aren't as good. For instance, I think the bonnet scope looks way too high and looks a bit Max Power. It might be OK in the flesh. We will have to wait and see.

Max Power is the phrase for the bonnet. Will probably put me off upgrading but will wait to see one in the flesh first.

Having seen the new cars, I think they look better in pictures than they do in the flesh. Personally I was dissapointed as I thought the cars would look more aggressive.

The STi scoop though is really naff. The current STi scoop looks good and suits the car. The new one looks like it was designed by the bloke that designed the UK300 rear spoiler (and don't tell me that was Peter Stephens).

Peter did do the UK300 spoiler but didn't do the STi bonnet scoop

Classic.

Sorry, that just tickled me Pete

The STi bonnet scoop looks very very toss, no doubt people will be changing that for an aftermarket design rather than the rear spoiler. Get your fibreglass out Pete.

I still can't understand why the STI lights were not made standard, with MY01\02 WRX owners given the opportunity to upgrade. I may be biased but the STi7 looks far better than the 8!

Again I though the piccies from the motor show were nice, but not so sure about these. The white one looks awful around the rear bumper, I note it has a front spoiler, is that a different rear bumper??

Shame about the bonnet scoop. They should have left it alone.
If the pedestrian-friendly bumper doesn't kill you, the scoop sure as hell will!!!

Not convinced on any of the photo's I have seen so far that it's a real improvement. Although I will save my judgement until I see the car for myself.

yuk !

I've got a MY99. When they launched the bug eye I was gutted by how ugly it was (plus the extra weight) so I put off changing my car. I thought I'd wait to see what the MY03 looked like and having seen it I've just ordered a Focus RS.

I hope Subaru get their act together and I'm looking forward to the new model (apparently due in 2006) and seeing what Andreas Zapatinas can do with a clean sheet of paper.

Think I'll be keeping my UK300 for a few more years, has a bit of personality about it. Does anyone else think the front end of the MY03 looks a bit shorter?

Gotta say - the front and the back are definitely designed by different people.

MY02 and sticking with it!

Hrm.

I didn't like it in the first pictures, thought that the new front looks too much like a blend of a B4 (which, by itself, is just fine) and a Hyundai Elantra (can you say "CHEAP"?). Looked like a classic case of over designing.

Well, now the STI does indeed makes that impression stronger, only adding in some degree of looking like a toy. So, all in all, after looking carefully at the pictures and thinking hard, I came to the following conclusion:

It's a piece of crap.

The WHITE one looks better IMHO, the white lessens the effect of the over designing and makes the overall result much cleaner and not like something that is supposed to be parked in proximity to rubber dinosaurs etc. Driving the blue one is downright degrading.

And what the **** happend to the scoop? Are they teaming up with Hoover? It won't kill the pedestrians, it'll just suck 'em inside.
The thing on the STI can digest a average sized family with 2 healthy kids.

So a white one would do for me, but the basic design is still crap. Choosing a color which hides the lines doesn't say much good about the design..

Too bad, I kinda liked the STI7..

Scoop ruins the blobeye IMHO.

Its interesting to note that the white blobeye STI has a standard WRX spoiler, while the sonic blue blobeye has the 'prodrive style' Popular guesswork says that the STI will have the prodrive spoiler/bodykit as standard and there won't be a 'normal' version.

I wonder if they are trying out different aero packages to decide on which spoiler/bodykit to use.

LOL - when was the last time you saw an aftermarket accessory that REDUCED the size of a standard Scoob component. I reckon Mr Croney and chums will make a killing selling the 'smaller' STI 7 bonnet scoop to replace that thing on the front of the car
