UK wrx wagon or Jap STI Wagon
#1
thinking of taking up Subaru on their latest offer, interested in the Wagon. 3k off OTR price. Or maybe get the higher performing STI wagon from Japan.
Is the STI really any better than standard UK, are parts easily available, what are service costs like. Has any got any experience?
Any advice or comments greatly appreciated.

Yes, The STI wagon will be of greater performance. BUT I think it misses out on a lot of 'goodies' from the Saloon version.
If you buy a jap import then UK Subaru dealers won't service it, nor will it have the manufactuers warranty. You can however get it serviced at your nearest Subaru specialist and it will come with the importers warranty.
Grey imported cars will also tend to have a higher depreciation than the UK/EU ones.
If dealer support and warranty are important you may be better getting a standard WRX Wagon and fitting the prodrive performance pack, which will get you 'fairly' close to the STI Wagon in performance.

Also the insurance would be higher on the STi..
Difficult decission to make really...
The STi would be a good beast.. but you could get the UK and spend 2k of the 3k you saved on the PPP... but then I suppose the STi is the same price as the WRX with the 3k off??
I had a similar choice only secondhand cars when I bought my last Scoob and stuck with a UK car in the end due to insurance costs as I am getting tighter as I get older.. but then I have spent the last year or more adding goodies to it that would have already been on the STi... perhaps I should have just bought an STi..
I had had enough of the increase in insurance each year with my imported Toyota.
