I have just filled up in Diss, Norfolk. I was down to nearly fresh air.

Price was 80.9p per ltre.

Seems to rev better - but I have only driven 10 miles so far.

Pete,

Should have no problem finding it up here as its all coming from the refinery at Ellesmere Port (famous for fuel blockades in the recent past!).

I asked at garages in Congleton and Stockport and they were both expecting the new stuff...

Cheers,
Gareth

As I think has been posted before, most Shell garages already have it but it is being blended in with the old stuff. Until the tanks are only full of the new stuff they wont actually advertise it. But my garage is selling it and a big ad campaign will start in 2 weeks when they reckon it will be flushed through.

So far so good Nearly two tankfuls and an ECU reset, and I'm holding 17.5psi (MY00, PPP). Seems to be very smooth and strong throughout rev range. No idea on fuel economy yet...

Verdict It's the same price as SUL, which I've always bought anyway, and seems better, so who am I to complain?

Saw my local shell advertising it, two ladies dressed up handing out leaflets on the forcourt. Looked for the sign on the pump selling it (optimax sign is in red) picked up the red gun nearly pulled the trigger, then realized it was LRP, they'd got the signs mixed up. Drove to the pump actually selling it and told the woman handing out the leaflets. She told me she didn't work there, just handed out leaflets for the stuff. Wonder how my car would have run on LRP as they havn't changed the sign a week later.

I filled up with optimax tonight. Drove 20 miles to a mates house.. No difference whatsoever.

Got back in the car 2 hours later to drive home and I have noticed a performance increase. It does pull a lot harder. Quite impressed. I feel as though I should be telling my insurance co that I have made a mod.

Ecu most have been reviewing notes while parked up.

Any ideas what it is doing to the engine.... Any increase in engine temp.

Dave,
Are you sure they don't just have an old sticker? I was not aware that any BP station was supplying 98 Ron unleaded in the uk.

Peter Johnson, Burtonwood Services on the eastbound carriage way are selling Optimax. Think it is 81.9p a litre. Look for the Red Label.

I've got 4:1 Optimax:SUL in the tank of my MY99 Sport, and it does seem to have made a little bit of difference over the 30 miles since I filled up. It does seem to be pulling stronger - I'm fairly sure I'm not just imagining it!
