Harj beats McRae :o)

Anyone else watch McRae Jnr run his Hyndai WRC car down Santa Pod on top gear? Sunny day, running slicks, and he only managed 12.93 (or 12.97?) at 106mph.
Compare to Harjy boy doing 12.7 in his road going WRX on road tyres on the first run out after loads of rain.
And I think Craig did better in his STi didn't he?
Plus VB-H was thrashed in the Skyline R34 by the afore mentioned Hyndai.

vbh thrashed
maybe i'm wrong, but i saw a skyline beaten by a wrc car, but it certainly didnt look thrashed. i thought it would be
skyline 54k, hyundai hairdryer 500k. did the hyundai have any hyundai parts, or is it a car that kinda looks like a hyundai
was the skyline modded? they should have put it up against a seriously modded skyline, still costs less than 500k

spudgun, don't get me wrong - I love Skylines to bits. One of my fave cars. I would imagine it was standard too - otherwise it would surely have wiped the floor with the Hyundai.
I just like seeing the words VB-H and thrashed in the same sentence )
(Cue long thread about VB-H being a minger etc. I couldn't care - I would if I had the chance.)
The sideways action film was awesome though - if a tad too dusty to work out what was going on. Can you imagine actually getting paid a good wedge to do that for a living? It's bloody hard work, but what a laugh! The only laugh I get at work is adding more zeros to quotes.

I watched Top Gear last night and I was a little suprised that the Skyline wasn't much quicker, I bet they tried a few runs and chose the best one
If Craig got the NA Monster at the Pod im sure we would see low 12's at least
Still Im happy to declare the old WRX was fast enough
PS.Shaun I think I can beat your head like an egg as it looks a bit weird LOL

I think the question at the end was most interesting....
Would you buy a Hyundai Hairdryer if they produced a 250bhp 4wd rally replica???
I think I would if it was <£20K, after all that why I bought the scooby...

So what if he's faster is a straight line - boring - I'd like to see him or anyone else for that matter keep up with Alastair on a winding country road or special stage. Any numpty can drive a car in a straight line.
Alastair is one of the fastest guys in the WRC after Colin, he just doesn't have the car to deliver. Give him a Lancer or Impreza again(remember the '98 RAC?)and it'd be McRae's all the way to the finish.
STI-WANNA -Agree, wonder if he succeeded after the cameras were turned off?, from what I've heard from people who know the McRae's I wouldn't be surprised.
Accent Turbo - yup, if as good as the scoob and c. £20k.
A biased Scot.
