Last week, I approached my local Subaru dealer, something I don't like to do as they have a dreadful reputation, to try and get my car fixed under warranty.
As the car had been serviced by a specialist garage but not a Subaru garage, I was told that my car could not be fixed under warranty.

I posted on here about the same time last week and the replies led me to understand that I would not have much luck in getting Subaru UK to honour the warranty.

Well good news, I phoned Subaru UK and they kindly offered to fix the car under warranty and they even phoned my local garage to ask them to sort out my car. So well done Subaru UK.

However I still have to take my car to my local 'friendly' dealer for the work to be carried out and here lies my my dilemna!

I will of course be without a car for all of tomorrow. Now I know of another dealer, a good drive away, who will let you have their demonstrator, be it a P1, WRX 300 or whatever, as a mode of transport while your car is being repaired. However as Subaru UK have got the car booked in at my local garage, I am actually quite wary of asking them to have a car. They are really that unhelpful and not just to me, as I know a few of my Subaru owning friends who will actually drive the 100 miles to this other garage to get their car serviced etc.

Now as my local garage have a P1 and a WRX 300 sitting on the forecourt each and every day, can anyone think of how I could approach my local garage and be given the P1 or WRX as a courtesy car when I drop my car off? It just so happens that my wife is looking for a car at the moment and the P1, WRX would fall within her price range. But can anyone think of how I could approach them when I drop my car off tomorrow and get myself a day's test drive in either a P1 or a WRX 300?
Tip: Asking for a test drive normally results in them accompanying you for 5 mins down the road and you get to drive it back again!!

Over to you........

sorry mate but i can't imagine any dealer letting you have a p1 or uk 300 for the day as a jolly while your car is being fixed.

eg thats like someone coming up to me and saying "i've noticed that the Z8 sits on your forecourt all day, can i use it whilst you fix my motor". Thats usually met with a laugh mainly cos we can't tell them to f*** off.

In the motor trade loan cars are exactly that cheap motors to get you from a to b. Demonstrators (p1 / uk 300) are there to demonstrate whilst keeping the mileage down.

In reality if they lent everyone the p1 for a day it wouldn't be worth much when they came to sell it with 40k on the clock.

Still ask and you will either be laughed at (see above) or they will say yes and you will be laughing - what have you to lose really
