Hi Nick. Sorry to hear about that.
I live in Frodsham, a manager from work also owned an escort cabrolet until about 3 weeks ago. He lefy his keyes on a table next to his front door, police reakon thieves used some kind of fishing rod to hook them through letterbox. That was in Runcorn. A coincidence? Who knows.
Hope it doesnt cost you too much,
Rob

Don't these thieving bast***s really p**s you off.We went to bed last night at around 10pm (Early for me!) and when my other half got up for work this morning at 4.30am her car had gone off the drive.I jumped outta bed and the only thing left on the drive was some plastic from around the drivers door lock. The car in question is a Ford Escort 1.4dash cabriolet (K reg). We've just had it fully serviced, new hood etc etc and the car was mint.
I got my Impreza outta the garage (MY01 WRX) and went to see if we could find her car. A hundred yards down our road there it was. The tw**s had in my opinion, bust the drivers door lock with a screwdriver, wrecked all the instrument cowling, tried to start the car with a screwdriver which snapped in the ignition and then ripped out the starter switch and tried to start it that way. They didn't realise that the car was immobilised hence the reason why it was dumped a hundred or so yards from our home.
Why can't you have anything decent without these wan*ers wanting a piece of it.I'm on the hunt now to try and find out who done it cos the police don't take these things seriously enough (They're more interested in catching innocent motorists doing 4mph over the limit!)

There are lessons to be learnt though:

1. If you have a garage, use it! (No matter how much of a rush you may be in)
2. Always have an alarm/immobiliser on your vehicle no matter what level or nickability it may have (The escort was only immobilised and will now be having a cat 1 alarm fitted!)
3. Don't leave keys near doors. We now take ours upstairs incase somebody breaks in to take em!
4. Be alert and pay close attention to any suspect people!

Ahhh,that's better now!

Nick..

P.S: If anybody lives in Preston Brook area (Cheshire) and has any info I'd be very interested to hear from you!

Sorry to hear that, there are some sad little monkeys out there.

You are putting you and your wife at risk by taking the keys upstairs, leave them down stairs and buy tracker/trackstar/navtrack for each vechicle.. its better for your health.

Alex

Nick,
I'm assuming you did report it to plod? if so what did they say? just kinda curious.

it's a sad state of affairs when we have to go to draconian measures to protect the cars we've worked hard to get from some scum who are either jealous, drunk, high, or just out for a bit of 'fun'.

And what happens if we, the 'victim' manage to find out who did it? if we do anything to them then the cops may be knocking our door, not to thank us, but to arrest us for ABH or worse.

If a nutter breaks into my house looking for the keys then I'll give them to him, not worth the risk to be honest (what's the standing with regards to insurance on this one?)

However, if some little 14yr old ****** is trying to nick the car and I catch them, they will get a beating, end of story. Sods law then says I'll get banged up for assult, which might be fair as I would not have really had a case for using 'reasonable force'

I'm getting sick and tired of reading threads like this nearly every day. not sick of people posting them, just the fact that society has turned to crap.

Well Said Markus!!!!
I couldn't agree more.Like you say,we (The innocent parties!) would come off worse than the little bast**ds who attempted stealing our cars/possesions if we were ever to confront them (Which I plan to do should we find out who did this!)
As far as the plod goes - They sent out a Crime Scenes Officer (Or whatever they call em!) this morning to finger print the car cos there were hand marks everywhere inside. What makes me laugh is that this officer says the thieves were professional cos they wore gloves but discarded em when they were inside the car. They were that professional they couldn't f**king get more than a hundred yards.
So thieves (There were two of em!) if you're reading this or know of the person who did it give me a knock sometime and let me introduce my baseball bat to your thick f**king skulls..... (Oh,and try getting a job like the rest of us to pay for your expensive habits!)
Then explain it to the cops!

Nick..

It's probably best you didn't catch them as either one of you could have ended up in a cell or in hospital. It's not worth screwing your life up over some clueless sh*t.

Then again... I do sleep with a baseball bat by the bed... for sporting reasons....

Easy Jon, its a little out of order calling him "thieving scum", I doubt very much it was him that nicked his girlfriends car.

But on a serious note, its a sod, hope all the insurance etc all goes smoothly, and if you do find out who did it, dont get yourself into trouble on their behalf.
