45K Servive £450.53. Can I beat it????????
#1
Subaru quoted 450.53 pounds for the 45k service. This is high considering they only change the cam belt which they say takes two hours and then the only other changes are the oil plus filter and the power steering fluid. The rest are just checks. Please advise anywhere cheaper.....PLEASE

Hi Iain
Which dealer was it? I just had my 37,500 done and rang around all the dealers within a 30 odd mile radius of Bracknell. Mill Lane in Basingstoke were the cheapest followed very closely by Cheam, the most expensive being SGT Maidenhead and Lancaster Reading.
Hope that helps...
Cheers
Neil.

Neil,
If you don't mind telling me, how much did you pay for the 37.5k?
I'm approaching 36k miles, hence I'm interested what the going rate is before I start ringing around.
Cheers,
Chris.

If i remember correctly the 45k service is actually the largest service that they do to your car.
Yes they do change your belt but they also do everything else too.
At 3 yrs you should have your radiator flushed, the brakes should have already been done at 2yrs (fluid change) along with the spark plugs, but its a part of scoob ownership, the 30 and 45k services have always been expensive (300+ for the 30 and 400/450 for the 45k).
Sorry if its a shock for you but its one of the things i checked out when i bought my scoob, anyway you should see how much peugeot charge for a 30k service on a 106gti, around 230quid!! its the cost of motoring

Iain, you can always try haggling with them.
My 45000 mile service at Lancaster cost 380 quid back in March. As soon as I told them what others were quoting they dropped the price.
Hope this helps,
Steve

It may be a bit far to travel, but I've been quote £370 which includes VAT for my 45K service. Plus I get a courtesy car whilst the service is being carried out.
Also I paid £263 which included the VAT for my 30k service. Plus this also included fitting a power lead from the battery to the boot (for the amp), plus a few odds and sods that needed doing round the car like some door trim that was lose. Sorting out a rattle in the boot. etc..
So as Spider said shop around or haggle with them, see what u can get.

As no Subaru dealer will touch a jap import I went to a independent garage called AWD Motorsport engineering in Perth. For £450 (£270 is the actual price of the 45k service)they carried out my 45,000 service which included all the usual plus front and rear genuine subaru brake pads! They made a superb job of the car, as they are ex-subaru dealer mechanics and they have all the scooby tools and a select monitor! 10 out of 10 for their friendly service!

Try getting a quote from Dave West of Risborough 4wd on 01844 274 652. A lot of us around here use him as he is very good and a friendly bloke. I think my 45k was about £370 but could be wrong. The 45k or 3yrly service is the biggest you will have done on your scoob.

Hey Chris, how ya doing? (found a new curry house yet? )
Don't mind at all mate. Mill Lane quoted 103 quid (ish) and actual cost was a smidgen over 104, so pretty damn good IMHO. Lancaster, who seem to be most expensive in my area quoted 140 quid Thats quite a bit of difference!!!!!
See ya
Neil.

Scoobyjawa,
I'll let you know. I will certainly play them off each other and see how I get on.
Thanks all for the tips. I was aware of a high price but I'm always interested in saving some pennies if possible.
Cheers
