The dodgy garage I nearly bought a 5 door turbo (which should have been a write off) from is now advertising a 95 M Prodrive Turbo Series McRae for £7,695 with Full Service History

What makes me even more suspicious is they say it is car No. 1

Does anyone have the real No. 1 or know if this has been written off as this garage has won no favours from me

Get the chassis number and check it with Subaru UK. If a car is written off its warranty will be voided and may show up on the computer. Also worth doing an HPI/AA check for £25, again you need as many detials as possible chassis, engine and numberplate. Tell the saleman what you intend to do if he is helpful then its probably straight if not then dig further or walk. Check the details against the V5. Get the previous owners name some garages dont like giving this out though so you have to be sneaky. Often worth taking someone else whose sole purpose is to remember details or make notes . Ring the previous owner they can only tell you to go away . I have been rung by plenty of potential buyer in the past and always try to be helpful on hisotry and things wrong with the cars, there is always some little niggle.

Hope this helps,

Chris

Hi Depends on the mileage if it is really a cheap car or not....
In last week was a series Mcrae with 125K for £6500 and that was a garage selling that....

Dont know the area as i was checking on the rader website but was 165miles away from me...
As for a No.1 gotta be worth something if it is proper!!!

Raf.

Thumbs down

Bought a MY00 Sport from Lancaster's in Sevenoaks three months ago - decided to get as new a car as I could afford rather than take my chances with an old or imported turbo for my first Impreza.

If it's genuine I'm sure someone will give it a good home - I'm just very suspicious of this garage and was hoping to shop them if it's been written off / a fake

Cool

AFAIK The only scoob Colin owns is The L555BAT that won the 94 & 95 RAC rallies. I can't see Prodrive hanging onto what were really lightly modded std UK cars either, so it may be genuine
