Unhappy

Can't be that good as insurance companies want a tracker now as well.

Thumbs down

Imobilisers are good since "most" cat1 alarm sirens can be bypassed very easily. Stick a good steering wheel lock on and perhaps one of those reverse gear locks and thats about as far as its practical to go. Nothing stops a HIAB lifting your motor or a fishing rod nicking your keys through the letterbox

I think they are bollox, especially those cat 1 clifford types. You cant work on the bloody cars for fear of the keys gettting locked in, or deafened every 30 seconds. Valet mode?? *****, it never works. How does anyone keep a car with one of those things??? If I bought one, it would be the first thing Id remove.
A good visual/mechanical immobiliser is a much better option, although a little more hassle. I have even found, that the simple things like a hidden fuel pump switch are the best. Only I know where it is, so even if they do get the keys, it aint gonna go easily. I would say its also good advice to keep car/house keys seperate, just in case they do get the car keys. Why do people have keyrings with a million keys on them?????

Only one thing I can say and that is, "How determined is the bloke who wants your car- without your permission"?
These days, no matter how much you pay out on alerts/anti theft units,if they want it, they will no doubts take it, just may take them a bit more time thats all. So i would sooner carry out the minimum for the insurance company, and take the risk, not much to deter these guys, but gearbox locks are effective, especially if parked right. Problem is though, they are wary of such devices, including trackers, so they either stop you whilst driving, and get the keys, or break into your home and take the keys that way, so what else can you do??
Answers not involving a firearms licence may be "useful"!
