Top mount = history!

I would just like to inform other of my experience the other day when Steve Lawson fitted an APS front mount to my scoob:-)

At first we noticed that the FMIC was not for my car but a 99 onwards modal, different bumper mounts etc, even the Induction flange did not measure up with the maf box thingy.
More still the cutting templates supplied were for a 99 bumpers.

However the man is a genius! he has a patients of I don't know but it good.

10 hours later we had it all on with 1 or to light mods, the thing looked awesome!! I am pleased that it fit as the APS FMIC for a 97 is smaller.
(Sorry PHolt!!!)

Ok the drive, unbelievable! gained and extra 2psi my total now is 17psi peak with std jecs ecu, the sound is incredible! you can really here the waste gate flapping its nuts off before the DV kicks in, The boost just holds. My concern as pointed out me by Trout,Evil,Nito,Andy,Steve was the lean run and lag. After testing it and having the sensors in place, what lag? and fuel is P-perfect!!

I have a vf 23(sligthly modded) and plans to get this all mapped with a link and 480's and if it behaves I would like a boost setting of at least 1.4 bar (Please god make it happen)

Cutting the bumper took up most of the time with no templates (You were right Nito)

Also in the day I had the Lambda link/knock link and a full wrc pro suspension fitted "Wicked!")what a day, walked into the workshop at 9am-left at 11pm.

I will get some pic up soon, but Steve very well done m8 for your first FMIC job!!

Guys and girls the man is more than prepared and experienced to get you all flowing from the front!

I think there are 2 already in the cue Andy T and Steve M, if your car is a MY99 onwards than the job will be a peice of pizz!

Will post the pics and inform of progress later.

even less than an my00 and even, which is much less than an my98.

The standard intercooler on the 01 is bigger still than the older cars.

Thumbs up

Yep, I know they're bigger, but you're more likely to get more cold air with it sitting at the front of the car.. you'll also be more likely to get stones embedded in it.. of course a grill protecting it would be nice

Evil,

Just to say I thought of a grill did not fit because of time, but the fin's on APS compared to our top mounts is another story, I wish I could say rock hard, also after a good blat I went to the fMIC and put may hand on it to check how hot, the thing was like a fridge.

Yes you are right Alex you get more cold at the front.

Moe

See you later

Moe, be very carefull if you use a lance (pressure washer) on the front of the FMIC. A mate of mine who has an Escort Cossie and a FMIC borrowed my Karcher pressure washer and let his little brother wash the car. He washed the FMIC with the harsh laser like setting on the washer and he left a rather pretty swirly design all over the FMIC.

Other than that Awesome Lawson does it again And just you wait until the cold weather sets in, HMMMMMM Frosty Mornings

Ronald,

Cheers for that, I did think about it, the APS fin's I would say are 4 times the strenght of lets say our Topmounts which impressed the crap out of me.

See yeah
