Went to view an WRX STI 2 RA this evening, the car turned out to be a STI 1 RA. Does any one know what the differences were between these 2 cars?

According to data I have the STI 1 was a modified from production WRX, the STI 2 was the first full production STI. Saying all that someone must know what the difference was between these cars. Maybe someone knows where I can find this data.
