OK i guess i have about 230 bhp and its pretty quick, i pulled up behind a rs500 cosworth ,stopped at traffic lights by roundabout, it was imac, cool plate E500 ***, no clear mods, then bang it was gone ,even if im being consevative it must have had 350 bhp min, i was gobsmacked it left me for dead.......so Swindon drivers beware this thing flies.

It's so called an RS 500 because Ford had to sell at least 500 homologation models to be able to compete the car in competition, but I think more than 500 were actually made, it just ahd to be a minimum of 500. It is pretty much the same as a normal 3 door Cosworth, but had slightly more power, and subtle appearance changes.

It ran different front bumper, extra wing tip spoilers on the rear, and the small matter of a thicker block, 8 injector plenum, and T4 turbo!!!!

If you come across a grey RS500 around Milton Keynes, don't try racing it, it has 530Bhp (on an engine dyno). Mind you he can't floor it below 100mph (too much wheelspin)

Which is exactly what he meant by increase in power and subtle changes to appearance!

Its not a different front bumper its just a small lip on the bottom and it has grilles where the fog lights shoud be with ducts to cool the brakes. Also has small rubber spoiler on the hatch and a lip on the wing. There were 500 ish made and they all have a numbered plaque by the electric window switches.
These were very easy to tune as they had many bits set up for big BHP. ( Intercooler, turbo, 2nd rail of injectors etc )

Sideways, the front bumper is definitely different, it has a dip along the top line of the bumper, very distinctive, as well as a different lip and the grilles were optional.

Compo, There are a couple of very fast cossies round our way. My old neighbour used to run a very highly tuned one and I wouldnt be suprised if the one you saw wasnt his latest as he swapped his lowered, modded car for an immaculate grey one a few years back. Obvious questions but did he have a baseball cap on?
One thing I did find out from him was that he was going through turbos like nobodies business.... ouch!
You usually see these guys pootling about round town so as not to cause offence but once they hit the bigger open roads not much stands in their way.
