Well insurance is the first thing you need to look at (as we dont know how old you are?) so go hunting before you go buying.
If you check out www.subaru.co.uk and look under used cars, you can find a P1 there (and as for thrashed.... its a performance car, it will get ragged ) but you need to look for running up until warm and running down before swithching off (if buying private and get it HPi'd too!)
Also check out www.sidc.co.uk for info on the models.
Depending on what sort of money you have to spend really dictates what sort of car your after, 16k will get you a late classic MY00 from a dealer, private will get you one for 13k, 17ish k will get you a new MY02 model from abroad...
One thing to look out for though, these cars need full service history (dealer preferably) and the body service too! (services are 6 monthly or 7.5k miles, whichever comes first).
Hope that helps.

As for PPP for the STi7 is due out soon The Engine Etc is the same on the MY03 the same kit will fit both so if its out for one its out for the other . IMHO
