Thumbs up

Ok, a couple of questions.

I'm part exing my existing 97 R impreza sport and still cant get the insurance on a turbo. So I'm going for a 2 month old (Y plate) impreza sport special edition because although its no real substitute for a turbo, it has the looks of one and the interior, which will have to do for now.

Are there any other owners of these cars out there who can give an opinion, particularly regarding my choice of colour. They were only made in black or a pale yellow, and at the mo I'm edging towards a yellow one, due to value for money.

Also, any ideas on prices to get the black skirts colour keyed to match the yellow. A decent job which will last?

Thanks

Question

is there no way you can get an early turbo, even an import, rather than a newish sport. the turbo would be cheaper i imagine, and use the difference to pay for the insurance?

Wink

Make sure you tell the insurers of the extras fitted;turbo interior, spoiler, air-con, etc. I have a black model and this year found that most co's have clamped down. Privilege have the best service, they know about the model. This is my 2nd sport but if I could justify the ins. I would be running a Turbo

PS Privilege want a Cat 2 Immobiliser fitted, Toad will do it for £119

- Presumably if you get an online quote, which I have, where you put in the reg number ant it magicaly knows the car (some sort of database?) I dont need to tell them, as they know which car it is? If I buy through AXA over the net then I get 5% discount. It should just be group 13 like the normal version.

I wouldnt mind a better back box too, as the sport one is a bit narrow.

Hi Sport Special where abouts in Scotland are you from, I used to live in Dunfermline. What are AXA like for mods? I was thinking of a back box or maybe a full system, how much do you they add to your policy for mods like that? Glad to hear they sorted out your claim so well.

Cheers

I've got a sport special.... it's black, personally I think the yellow looks ok when it is clean on a sunny day, otherwise it looks not so good. Depends on your personal opinion really, and how much cheaper the yellow one is!

When I had a Sport, I was told the standard Subaru fitted immobiliser was Cat2 approved.

Oh, and the hill holder clutch. Every car should have one!!

BarryK,
Apparently not, phoned Subaru GB this morning to check, they confirmed it is only "Factory Fitted" and not Cat 2 approved, unlike the Cat 1 Turbo equipment. Toad up & running, Privilege happy and a damn sight cheaper than AXA, as per previous posts!

I thought the black one would look dirty easier than the yellow.

I'm off to view the yellow one on Saturday, having apid a 'keep it 4 me' deposit.

Just a little concerned that (a) pple will thing i'm a **** with a yellow car, and (b) it may attract unwanted attention from the Nova crowd and their car keys.

Did AXA really not care when you upped the power etc? Maybe I might do that.

I think Subaru should do the sport in 2 wheel drive, the loss of heavy 4x4 kit will reduce the weight and increase the speed etc. I'm sure they could pull it off.

Incidentally, has anyone else heard the rumours about a convirtable turbo, clk style hardtop? Apparently available in japan soon, but sounds like ****e to me
