Noticed yesterday, and again today ! Lanes 2 and 3 of the Clockwise and anti clockwise M25 between J18-19 there are a set of what look like speed cameras (look semi permanent) mounted on a bridge ! They look like CCTV cameras with flash guns mounted on them !

They could be ANPR, automatic number plate readers. They read the number plate, and check out tax disks etc etc. They could also be traffic density cameras.

If they looked like this they are mini gatso and ARE Speed traps

Hmmm, yeah ! but with flash guns ? heavyweight cables running to the edge of the bridge ? Difficult to call, but would rather be cautious about this stuff !

Oh and only lanes 2 and 3 ????

I feel sure that if they are speed cameras, they have been placed there as it is an accident black spot rather than a cash machine !!!

Croydon have just installed a new camera on a downhill section of road, I admit it is within half a mile of a school but certainly not an accident blackspot as the trafic does not travel over 5mph during rush hour (school time), to ensure they maximize revenue they have reduced the speed limit to 20mph 100 yards each side of the camera !!!

 

They look like the SPECS cameras ! but i didnt see any on any other bridges !

 

Dunno what they are then

Keep an eye out to see if they flash, which bridge are they on?

 

Bridge is at the top of a longish hill, will try and pay more attention tomorrow !
