p1...

test drove a standard p1 yesterday....excited to say the least....so why was i not impressed afterwards?
perhaps my expectations were set to high about the performance
perhaps it was because of the drab interior
or was it due to that my uk300 was of similar acceleration/handling around the country lanes......ppp'd r/r @ 277 and 266 torque.
i presumed that as my car is heavier and even though its been lightly modded that i would notice a large difference in the two cars.
i wanted so much to buy one of these.....now disillusioned

You have the same power but only a little more weight. Driving the P1 with two passengers would be similar to you on your tod in your car, i.e. not much of a difference at all. But remember what would happen if you similarly modded the P1

Your probably not excited as you realise the P1 is based on an early 90's car. Pele's private part was more rigid after Viagra than the P1's chasis.
For me driving an old shape is not what its cracked up to be. You remember it with nice thoughts, but the creaks and groans soon show up how it really was. Your UK300 is a superior car in many respects.

Ive had seven of um, and none would. I always remember doing a back to back at Prodrive of a P1 inc exhaust mods and UK300 PPP. I always thought I'd buy another P1, but the UK300 for my dosh.
Real world driving the UK300 PPP takes some beating. Drive a UK STI and see how bad it is at 70mph in 6th. A scotsman gets his wallet out to buy a round quicker than the STI acclerates

Rich, Don't wish to jump in, but what mods have you carried out on your UK300?. I also Own a UK300PPP (R/R @ Power 248BHP) and was wondering what to do next, power wise.

changed exhaust for scoobysport including up and down pipe...r/r @ power engineering 277 and 266 torque...no other mods

Rich,
We had a UK300 (PPP'd) and had a test drive in the STI7, felt they looked and performed much the same. Whilst there we spied and later bought a P1, both for looks and performance - we have not been dissappointed.
Having had the P1 remapped and exhaust replaced the car is showing 323bhp on the dyno(295 torque), together with the prodrive geometry settings, just makes this car so much better (in our opinion!) don't know how much we would have to have spent on the UK300 to get similar figures.
Still best of luck and onwards and upwards.
Regards,
Mike
