Went fpor a drive in a 400BHP skyline last night and I have to say that it is completely awesome. The best thing about it is the noise!I have never heard anything like it!!!!And the acceleration was awesome as well.I have an evo6 and I thought that was raw but the skyline took the biscuit! It is just an out and out racer.I have never been in amnything like it and probably never will trully awesome.I don't think I'd want one though as they are far to big and wholly impratical.Amazing car though!!!

a 550+bhp one would be better.......

It'd need about that to keep up with my car, given the power to weight ratio

The Skyline R34 weighs circa 1670kg unladen.....

My car, unladen weighs 1275kg (old shape Impreza)

About a 31% difference - you can work out the rest

Course I might be exagerating

My Big Brother who works extremely hard, bought a GTR34 vspec from Middlehurst
run it in for 6K and then had the HKS Filter / high flow decat exhaust combo fitted along with the ecu adjustment.

its good for 160 @ 6000 rpm and will rev to 8500 rpm!!!

the conversion (retaining the 3yr nissan waranty) is 2k
tyres £200 a shot every 6k on the back and 12k on the front
£300-£600 service bills from Middlehurst!!

i refuse to travel in it now, its a bit tooooooooo fast!!!

but he gets IMMENSE pleasure fom it!!!

i'll stick with my 6 points and 70mph for a while!!!

1400kg for a scooby? Maybe when D Brown's wallet is in it .

1210 KG for RA'S, 1270-1285kg FOR P1/ Sti's. (More for 22B's - that one's just for Adam )

I went in Mike Smith's skyline(0-60 3.5 0-100 7.8) last year after Donny show and even 4 up it was still the fastest thing I'd been in.It was around the 400bhp mark then and is now more like 500bhp.

sorry, but a 400bhp skyline is nothing special really. if it didnt have a gtr badge on the front and skyline on the **** end, most people wouldnt rate it in all honestyit needs easily 500bhp to give a true idea of what a skylines all about. also, a lot of skylines dont have great torque figures, although some like keiths and my old one did, in comparison to their bhp figures. it made a hell of a difference!
give me a 400bhp evo or scooby anyday rather than a 400bhp skyline.

not trying to p155 on any bonfires, honest

Not sure where you get your info from, but according to Nissan they weight 1540kg.

Sources:

http://www.nissan-global.com/GCC/Japan/NEWS/2606.htm
http://www.gtr.co.uk/html/technical/r34.asp

I didn't realise you were running an old Impreza, sorry, but that's still only 20% difference, not ~30%.

Most Skylines (80%+) run at 400+bhp without breaking into a sweat, not many Imprezas (less than 10%) have been dynod at 320+bhp according to dyno.scoobynet.co.uk

Older - but.....lighter...

I cant get into the Skyline sites at the moment the Company firewall is refusing me permission but I'll find it as I number of sources stated the weight was around 1670kg.......

1670/1275 is 30%, based on your calc you get 20% - your inferring my maths is wrong......

As far as the 320+ goes - this will be changing

I must admit I only got 360bhp at my last RR outing - and the Dyno site is way out of date.... so I dont use it - plus the information (for my car at least) on the specs are wrong........ (power is correct just wrong info to go with it)

400bhp no sweat - yeh and cost a hell of a lot more in the first place (the cost of the car not the basic mods) and are not really comparable - now if you were comparing a Mitsubishi that would be fairer

I compare them because I have been in some 400 bhp Skylines and they were'nt anything to write home about (no offence to the Skyline community intended)

Thats why I said would need to have more power than this

To give me the same driving experience I currently have.. I would need to have a Skyline with around 550bhp..... but more so the Torque, as others have stated the bhp may be up but the torque is the important factor......

Um no.. I'm saying the numbers you're using as a basis for your calculation are wrong. Sure enough 1670/1275 is 30%, but the number is 1540, not 1670, which makes it 20%.

Now if only a 400bhp felt like my Scooby when it last had 333bhp - that would be nice.....
