full decat and VTA dump valve - induction kit helps too. Mine flames like a b4st4rd!!!!

You could do all that for 500 quid or so from 2nd hand bits.....

You do realise, that you would never see the flames, unless someone else drives it, don't you?

I get loads of flame out but only at higher speeds, i.e flooring at 90mph and lifting off and on.... excellent at night time!

Full decat and internally venting (I want my engine to remain intact)

err...

Pedestrians nylons? Small dogs..? Kids? Cyclists and motor cyclists? Sorry to sound like a party pooper but wouldn't the smell of flame grilled pooch spoil the WRC ambiance somewhat? Or isn't the flame that dangerous... I assume the thing will flame off the line in traffic etc.

Yours,

Worried from Dunstable

Mark

The flames would come out on overrun so those kids, small dogs etc would have to run fast to keep up with the exhaust

If you want MANS flames like this....

The above picture was on my old Escort Cossie at about 10mph!!!

No effect!

Remember unless you have the flamer kit on when stationary and constantly keep blowing them out, you wont have a problem as when you are moving the flame is thrust out the back away from the bumper.

Regards,
Shaun.

How do the kits work? Does it basically flame when you drop down a gear at high revs?

It is a coil and processor unit (which pulses to the coil), connected to a spark plug (which is placed in the tailpipe. This is all rigged up to a positive feed, switched on and off by a switch mounted on your dash somewhere.

It ignites any unburnt fuel that is thrown down the exhaust system, when it is switched on. This normally happens on over-run.

Regards,
Shaun.

Does it happen on all cars? I have a vta and decat exhaust on my Sti v6 I never get flames, have been on the search for a long time!
I think the issue is how eco friendly your car is running. It would appear to me that some cars have much more unburnt fuel in the exhaust, hence the flames. I dont even get bangs let alone flames, and the car does get very hot. So the question is how do u make your car run with more overfuelling on the overrun?
Keith.

Having Lambda and over-run fuel cut off enabled, will defo hamper the flames...........I had to have these switched off on the Escort (reprogrammed chip for the ECU). The P8 ECU on the Escort IS ozone friendly, so it can be an issue.

I have full decat and VTA. All I get are really loud bangs when I lift off. Like a gun shot. They are more frequent when its been ragged. My mate said he could see it glow inside the zorst at full chat but no flames though. Shame.
