Yep, the RS4 is a lovely beast. 'drool'
I think that it supposed to kick out between 380-400bhp and a ton of torque too in standard form. I wouldn't be silly enough to have a go against one and I am up in the 300brake league on a cold day.
Cheers,
Nick

Oh dear hear we go again!! I can see chins biting.
I went to Bedford around a year ago in a MY00 with minor mods, and was on the track with an RS4 for many laps, and he didn't pass me. Same could be said for an M3 (but wasn't being driven by ARRON BIRD) and wasn't that quick IMHO
Some may say that they weren't pushing it as they were new cars, I wasn't that much it was a company car and would have been in serious **** if I crashed it!
Just thought I'd mention it.
Cheers Phill C
PS Brakes and tyres were fcuked after in all fairness

RS4 was probably in 5th versus scoobies 3rd. RS4s are mental beasts, had a go in work colleagues once and it made my motor feel like the turbo was fcuked when I got back in it

I had a run with an Audi S6 the other week and he could not shake me from his tail.
They are 340bhp as standard but weighing in at 1700Kg.
A modded scooby (~300bhp) would not even compare to the RS4 in it's standard form (381bhp & 324lb/ft)

Had the misfortune of coming across one of these straight after getting my scoob, it was dark and I didn't realise what it was behind me. He stayed on my rear bumper for 3 miles while i got frustrated and tried to lose him. Got very silly but at least he didn't get past me I then turned off and saw what it was and came and posted on here about it because I couldnt believe how quick it was round the twisites for such a big car, and we were ragging it too (I was still on the honeymoon period wanting to see what it could do ).
They are awesome machines and if I had been on a clear straight with him it would have opened a can of whoop ar$e on my scoob! I certainly don't try that sort of thing now, well at least not with RS4's or TVR Cerberras

Guys,
Them RS4's are awesome cars.
Some power figures from the Audi spec for the RS4
Power = 280 kW/380 PS/ equates to approx 375bhp
Torque = 440 Nm
Some official Audi performance figures:
0 - 60km/h 2.3s (0 - 37mph)
0 - 100 km/h 4.9s (0 - 62mph)
0 - 160 km/h 11.3 (0 - 100mph)
0 - 200 km/h 17s (0 - 125mph)
Cheers
Gary

One came past me on a French autoroute, which happened to be very twisty, as some of theirs are, and limited to 110kph as a result.
I did go after him, and he was only just pulling away from me. He had only himself in, and I was fully loaded and 4 up.
Alcazar ('98 turbo, full TSL decat, ITG filter).

Gazza W1...........I wonder what sort of figures these cars would produce with the 480 bhp conversion!!!!
An heavilly modded S4 on the Audi Sport web site got to 130mph in 11.9 seconds

Have two friends:
One has a Evo6 with some approved Rallyart upgrade
One has an RS4
RS4 pisses all over the Evo.
(that equates into pisses all over scooby's as well)
Unless you have some ridiculously modded scooby, the RS4 would win hands down everytime. I certainly wouldn't under estimate it, even though it is a big car, no matter what vehicle I was in.
Nearest thing to a bike in sheer performance I've ever been in.

Its unfair to say scooby's won't keep up period!! The RS4 is seriously fast and will hump all but the fastest scoobies. I tried to bait one on sunday just to get blown away by it but he clearly couldn't be bothered so I let him be.
There was a modified RS4 (the guy posts on here sometime) at Crail and he was running similar times to Andy F. Andy has less than 400bhp and that RS4 had more than 600bhp (Disclaimer: I think!!)
Great cars and I'd love to have one but that just ain't going to happen soon.

Lol, this is making me laugh. RS4 wasn't being driven by Stevie Wonder and there were at least 20 people that post on here can confirm. If they can remember back that long ago
So why didn't he :-
1) Catch me up ?
2) Pass me ?
Cheers Phill C
PS And I know a Scooby isn't the fastest car around (hello) just thought I tell you what happened at Bedford on a three mile circuit.

Ive had a play with an RS4
up to about 70mph from a rolling start, he floored it, i followed, he was p155ed off cos he couldnt loose me
There was nothing in it though the gears (my car is an MY00 PPP) but no doubt into silly figures he would have an advantage over me with all that power but his power to weight aint that good so you would be closer than you think
Evo quote it at 4.8 to 60 and 12.1 to 100, power to weight is 236bhp per tonne, a p1 is 0-60 in 4.9, 0-100 in 13.3 and power to weight of 219 per tonne.
Its down to the drivers, that 1.2 secs to 100 is nothing if one driver is being gentle on his car and the other one isnt, dont be fooled that these cars are that quick, there is less in it that you imagine! (unless your doing silly speeds on a german autobahn )

Maybe on the standard ones but many are bought with the upgrades fitted pushing well upto 480bhp as I understand (maybe wrong on the bhp figure). Try racing one of those in the scoob and I don't care whether its a p1 or not it wont touch it in straight line speed and acceleration

I have an evo6 and I would not even bother racing one.I think we would be similar to 60 but there after the RS4 would pull away slowly. They are trully awesome and should not be underestimated!
But the new RS6 due in 2004 will be shattering with 500BHP!!!!!That will be shatering!

Babber,
I seem to remember taking you around Bedford on that day - and we came on the straight at the same time as the RS4 - my 'lightly' modified Scoob created at least a 150m gap on the RS4 on the 1k straight (I actually think it was more )

Yep, it is once that they are up to motorway speed and then gun it that you won't really stand a chance. I am not talking about him staying in 5th and accelerating and you dropping a gear and accelerating. gear for gear, 4th, 5th and 6th where applicable and this car will have no problems pulling away. It all depends on how pushy the driver is at the end of the day.
Babber, My vote still goes with the Stevie Wonder theory
Anyway, why do we get so menay of these stupid vs. threads?
Makes us all sound like flaming boy racers I can say that now, coz I just turned 25 today so am a real grown up now
Cheers,
Nick

yup, gotta agree, unless you have a heavily modded scoob don't try with an RS4, if you do prob still get beaten....maybe apart from the top 10 scoobs ??
I had a go with one in MY95, I've got 280bhp & 255lb's & he took 10 yards out of me in 2nd & 3rd, after that it was more. We didn't go above 100 as we were merging on the M1 & he was 2 up, I was on me own with hardly any juice in as well
Wouldn't like to think what a modded RS4 or S4 would do!!
shunty
