Keep trying to remove stubborn brake dust marks from my alloys. Is there any good stuff i can put on after washing them that will deflect the dust away from the wheel. I have tried some different fluids such as turtle wax break dust repellant but didn't think much to it. Any ideas

Thumbs up

The Wizard of Wax may be able to help here!!!

I waxed my wheels (avec Teflon wax), and brake dust just wipes off with a finger

You can get the stuff via http://www.scoobyworld.co.uk/trolleyed/20/index.htm, and although it is expensive, when you work out the cost per clean it becomes very fair.

For more impartial info, do a search of the general and NSR topics for the Wax Wizard or similar.

I've had my alloys re-furbished in anthracite... that hides the dust but is an expensive solution !

Flat 4x 4,

How much did this cost you. I've been toying with the idea of this. Have seen std OZ wheels etc and think that the anthracite looks cool - especially with certain colours.

I presume you're happy with the quality of finish and they look a professional job / no problems with chips etc??

(sorry this is a bit off the original thread)

I had standard 99MY wheels - 2 had some kerbing and some alloy corrosion was just starting to happen.

On darker cars I reckon anthracite looks better than gold (IMHO of course !) so was looking at 17" P1 wheels at £400+ used. To be honest I didn't want to affect the ride and like the standard wheel design so:-

Paid £50 per wheel to have done in Subaru anthracite - included refurbing the wheel, base coat, painting and lacquering, all outside your house. Took the guy at least 5 hours and you could ' watch to see what was going on'

Impressed - can't remember if it was Wheel Wizard or Wizard wheels but they are nationwide
