ok here we go right lets face sum facts here ......... if you had a scooby say running 280 bhp and cossie running 280bhp and a evo 6 running 280bhp what would win over a standing 1/4 mile at the pod . oh and by the way all cars are 4 wheel drive and lets say the same driver drives all 3 cars im dying to see the outcome of what people say oh almost for got all have the same torque

A scooby would win ! Why ? because this is a scooby forum and everyone in bias ! Oh, and it would leave um dead in the twisties !

Actually, in theory it would be which ever one is the lightest !

Which is :-

Scooby 1235kg (UK) to 1283kg (P1)
EVO 6 1255kg (RS) to 1365kg
Cossie 1304kg

So, err, thats the scooby again ! oh well !

an STi5 TypeRA would win because it has less weight, lower gearing, close ratio box, revs higher and runs a more eficient gearbox and diffs than the other two. It also is 280BHP standard.

And that isnt because i am biased!

EVO bad boy ! what evo you got ?

Every time i go to the pod, there is always a white Evo 5 with lexus rear tail lights there and a black/grey two tone ralliart Evo 6 there. Usally races a black escort cossie. Just wondered if that was you. If so i got you on tape !

Andy F's 94 wrx RA pulled a 11.7 at Crail, and that was before the latest mods that added about 30hp.

I did a 13.7 in my RWD 3-door running 285bhp. If you cant do better than that then I think the Cossie would win.
Jus' my opinion....

In standard form the EVO has the others licked. By far the best out of box package. In modified form the cossie have far greater potential for less cash outlay. And yes they can be made to handle just aswell as any jap mobile but have the advantage of the best power in the YB

my std evo is quicker than my
280bhp scooby and my mate owns a 320+ bhp cossie and it leaves him behind

so i think the evo is the winner

Cool

Having been reminded of ScoobyBeast370 by the "Golden Moments" thread, his car would definitely be the quickest - just look a the impressive list of all the cars he's beaten

yes but people, lets just remember........

if we go for pound for pound..... then we can see that the Scoob should win over the Evo cos of the fact that for a decent evo, ur looking over £10k!

I wouldnt do the quarter in my Evo, they have to much traction so for a fast start it ends up eating the clutch.

IMHO of course.

and then you do the gear box

uprate that, then you do the diff

and so on....

you can try wetting the tyres to get some slip off the as you get moving. Soon grips up, but by then you are off.

Still find it so funny that on the ten of the best times posted on this site an escort cossie was over two seconds faster down a 50metre strip than the fastest scooby. Only just being beaten by one skyline and the escort cossie was also the best handling car in the four wheel drive category. LOL how can you deny that the cossie is still the king of the 2.0 litre turbo's and one of the best handling 4 wheel drive cars ever made.
I understand that the majority of you couldnt afford an escort cossie and had to settle for third best soory fourth best. LOL scooby times beaten by a maestro turbo LOL LOL LOL how can you lot have the nerve to talk so much ****e.
I love anhilating scoobies it is fun and what they are made for other peoples amusement especially cossie owners

Gareth's car is hardly your average Cossie now is it! How many race championships has Gareth and that car won? I know that car and Gareth very well, it's in a diferent league to ANY cosworth in the world. Look at how well the rest of the cossies did, thats more representative of whats on the road. And for the record, my scoob, which was 4th overall on the handling section is completely standard except for 17" wheels and some bigger front brakes, it has the stock 32K mile suspension, stock engine, stock gearbox etc. I can pretty much say my car was the least modified car at the event yet was still very impresive.
