For those of you that don't know I had somebody crash into my rear bumper and give me false details. He gave me names, addresses and numbers which after a bit of investigation I found all related to South Queensferry.
With a little more detective work and phoning people I eventually tracked the guy down and arranged to meet him so he can give me the £200 it costs to re-spray the rear bumper. The transfer went through fine with no hassles.
The useful thing is I've arranged to get the rear bumper and colour-coding done for £200 by a 'mate' so effectivly I'm getting the colour-coding done for free when it would usually have cost me £100-150 through my 'mate' I think that's fair comphensation for my troubles and stresses.
Just goes to show peeps, if someone bullsh1ts you it's possible to track them down with some polite phone calls and investigation

His excuse was he was nervous and paniced. Some drivers just have no conscience at all. I was faced with a similar dilema just moments after picking up the money. I went for a celebratory drive down a nice twisty (and usually quite) back lane. I came round a corner and looked to the next and could see I had plenty of space to overtake so moved out and accelerated. Just then from nowhere a white pug appeared on a collision course (combined speed of about 120mph!!!) I managed to brake and duck back in and then I realised there was actually a dip in the road which I could not have seen from further back
I drove on slowly but noticed in my rear veiw that the other driver had come to a complete stop so I turned round to ensure he was ok. He was an Italian guy but judging by his chef clothes works over hear. I talked to/comforted him for a while to ensure he was ok cause he was quite shaken by it. He was understanding about the situation when I explained that the dip was not visible from my side and that it 'appeared' that I had bags and bags of room to complete the manouver.
I feel I did the right thing in going back but how many people (like vectra ****) would have just driven on with out a care in the world?
BTW, cheers for the offer skunk

glad to hear u got it sorted.
about the overtaking... as ur probably doing it more now.. heres a little advice i have taken on and its worth following:
look for the solid lines on the road... big giveaway of something dangerous... like a dip...
another rule i always follow - tho legally u can do it... is to not overtake at junctions... that is unconnected with what happened to you... but just thought id share that - would not like to hear of another scooby fatal accident.

Overtaking thing...I know..I know!!
But seriously it really was one of these optical illusions. Me and my passenger could hardly believe it when we looked at the road again. Could have been nasty but everyone was ok in the end.

No idea where those roads are mate, but cheers for the offer anyway. The incident happened in the big car park in Dunferline where the Odeon, gym, md's, etc is.

Personally. I'd have taken £500 off him for giving me the run around. Then I would have smashed his cars windows and knocked the ****er out. Teach him a lesson.
or used the classic scene from "Heat"
RdN : Tell u what, forget about the money
Office Guy : Its a lot of money, what are you doing
RdN : I'll tell you what im doing, im talking to a empty telephone
OG : What?
RdN : cos there is a DEAD man on the other end of this line.
Hangs up
Glad it all worked out ok though.
