Question

Has anyone managed to get any solid info on the availability of the PPP for the MY01 yet?

Cheers,
Darren.

Anthony Betts told me verbally on Friday that they are accepting orders with a deposit but don't expect to be able to supply until September.

Making some more phone calls tomorrow

I was told that they would want the car the day before fitting the PPP to remove the ECU as they have to return it when they take delivery of the PPP.

Were you told the same? Seemed a bit strange to me, surely they could return it after fitting or can't the dealers be trusted to do this

I heard that you ain't getting PPP before 1 Sept 2001 unless you had a uk300.. Just what I heard, could be wrong... same goes for the Prodrive lights.

Its worth the wait guys, just stick it out.
With the UK300PPP you get a prodrive certificate with vechicle details and PPP fittment date, etc.

Subaru told me that the PPP for the MY01 would not be available ever. I dont think they know what the hell they are talkin about, since they've told ever1 else that it would be available soon.

One question. Will the new PPP affect my insurance. I really want it but if it increases my insurance then i doubt i will be able to have it,as i am already payin stupid amounts alreadly.

thanks
Scrappy

I waited 6 months for the "official announcement" on 23rd May. Now its another 3 months to go and still no one is any the wiser at the dealerships!!!

What are Prodrive/IM playing at.

Makes me really angry when no one is really sure of the facts!!!

If this Link ECU dave t-s is talking about really works Prodrive/IM can stuff there 1.6k up their combined jackseye's!

They need to hire Bernard Manning as PR guru and send out tubs of vaseline to all us MY01 customer who've been given a good f@cking over.

Oh, and please - dont say "its worth the wait" anymore!!! SOD THE LOT OF THEM!!!!

My dealer told me last Friday that they were fitting them NOW! He said they were doing it themselves, i.e. it did not have to go to Prodrive, and they had already started. 1600 quid! This was at William A Lewis in Shrewsbury.

My dealer never mentioned about returning the ECU

But it does appear very vague between dealers

Will be fitting it while they repair the stone chips

Jza,

I'm tired of no-one knowing anything either. Was tempted to go another route when Mike Wood said a decat downpipe was not advisable after PPP. (coupled with the looonnnnng wait.)

So whats Dave T-S on about then? missed that.

IM have a list of people who want ppp and their VIN numbers, these have been supplied by dealers. The list is currently 40ish long and will be used to dish out ppp on a first come first serve basis. This will happen in August (no conf. date though).

unless your happy to wait for agesssss i suggest you get on the list via your dealer.

Tiggs -well up the list

Unlike the old PPP you do not get your old ECU back.

Hi Guys

The MY01 PPP ECU does not involve an ECU swap like the earlier models. The main reason the '01 PPP is cheaper is because instead of sourcing a new ECU from Japan as on the earlier models, the '01 ECU uses either a piggyback board or replacement board (rumoured to be a Unichip) in the casing of the existing ECU.

Prodrive will NOT touch a car for PPP that does not have the original exhaust fitted, and have instructed the dealers to do the same, and will NOT warrant the PPP if any of the exhaust parts are subsequently changed - i.e. decat d/p fitted.

The MY01 Link ECU is in the final stages of development and will shortly ship. More details at

With reference to the comments about the dealer having to return your ECU, does this mean that Prodrive are reprogramming the original ECU and that you no longer get a replacement as on the PPP for MY99 & MY00 ?

Can anyone who has got a PPP UK300 confirm if they had their original ECU returned ?

E.

I've spoken to my dealer today to get the lastest and ask about this list of 40ish. Apparently i'm on the list, (good job), as i've been giving him grief for a while, and asked if I could be at the front on the MY01's. They are planning to fit the kits themselves and have one other guy interested. He says it is unlikely to be August, and hopefully will be September.

I have spoken to Anthony Betts today re this and they are accepting deposits (£500!) against a confirmed price of £1600 all in. They will be fitting the PPP although apart from the ECU and intercooler pipes could not confirm the exhuast would be changed or that I would get a certificate to show what was done for warranty/insurance/re-sale purposes!

I wouldn't mind putting a deposit of 10% down, but 30%+ when there are not even any specs available is not good :-(

The MY01 PPP includes a back box and centre mid section to replace the third cat - that is fact, I was told it by Mike.

All this deposit business should not be necessary. My dealer, (Beechdale Derby), tells me the kit can now be ordered for the MY01. It does go straight on backorder however, but why are they asking for a deposit. Beechdale have ordered a kit in my name and I haven't paid a thing.

Just got an email from the great Bob Rawle himself. Hope he doesnt mind me telling you this but... begin to drool.....

With a SS system, expect 270/280 lb and 260/270 bhp and he maps the car to your driving style... all for £1350 inc the gadgets!

He said hes getting the first one in soon to tinker with and would expect a months worth of checking before releasing to us.

Sounds like you'd get yours before you could get a PPP - and check the figures!!!!!!

Question

Jza,

The BR Dev option sounds tempting. Are you saying £1350 including a SS system? Otherwise this adds an extra £800ish on and makes it quite a bit more expensive.

Then there's the warranty issue, but for those gains who cares.

Good point kev - you have to buy the SS kit first and you then pay £1350. So you pay approx £2150 all in. But what figures!!!

Just spoken to dealers in MK, they have now taken my order with no deposit (was £500!).

I have also spoken to Mike Wood and confirmed that they will all be dealer fitted.

Taken the plunge and put a deposit down now £200 @ Simpsons Highworth. All I have to do now is wait.
