As mentioned in the letter which accompanied the proofs, I've been away since just after Donington, and only got back a few days ago.

For those of you who've sent in orders, I hope to get most of them out by the end of the week. For those of you who haven't, why haven't you ?

I still have pix of around another 40 cars whose owners haven't contacted me. If you want to see prrofs, please email me at josh@apexphoto.co.uk.

Scrappy2,

The top and bottom shots were taken using a Nikon 300mm 2.8 AF-D, and the middle one using a Nikon 80-200 2.8 AF-S.

Cool

Those pictures are fantastic Josh.

I Like the smoke/dust from the osr being captured in the first picture. Your lenses go down to a low f-stop, I know you weren't using that aperture setting in these photos because the light conditions look good, but out of interest what aperture and shutter speed settings were you using. Do you shoot most of this stuff on ISO400 film setting?

Just finished a photography course so am interested in how your pics are acheived.

Paul,

To get some sort of consistency, I do tend to use 400asa.

Re the settings, I was taught a good rule of thumb when I was covering F1. On a good sunny day (using 100asa tranny) 500th @ f8 is spot on, and it works. However, most of the shots in sunlight were taken at around 4-500th at anything between f10 and f16.

Unless I'm after a particular effect, I rarely shoot at anything less than a 400th, as it will freeze most things. Although when shooting soccer, I'll go down to a 250th and modify what I'm shooting.

At the end of the day, it's all about what you're shooting. With motorsport, you need more depth of field than you do with Soccer, where you're trying to knock out the background to increase the impact of the shot.

Hope this goes some way towards answering your question.

They went down well thanks Phil. Very hospitable bunch of guys too.

They took me to Singapore's version of Scoobysport, which was very interesting. I've done a few shots of the place, and I'm thinking of writing a little picture story on it for True Grip. Apart from most of them having roof vents on their cars, to combat the heat their water injections systems are powered by marine pumps !

Yes, the stickers are very nice tks!

I put a Donno "National Day" smiley on my STI and my wife's Clio (on the window next to the child seat).

Somehow, I couldn't find a good spot on the car for the 1 ft long white SCOOBYNET decal. So in the end, I stuck it on my flat's dining room window - Conversation Starter!

Cheers!

EDIT: Most of us don't run in-cylinder water injection, only an uprated intercooler water spray system. The high pressure pumps are indeed marine items, from either JABSCO or FLOJET. They spray thru multiple nozzles onto the intercooler and oil cooler. Pretty effective on a 35degC day.

I got a couple of people to send test emails with no problems, and I've had mail from 5-10 other folks today, so I'm a bit confused. If you can't manage to get through simply by replying to my mail, I think it's safe to assume your ISP's got a problem.

you can try an alternative address of josh@qlsltd.com, or call me on 01908 507878

Thanks very much Roger, I'm glad you're happy with them.

Although there were a couple of people who somehow managed to elude my lens, there's still 30-40 owners who haven't requested proofs. If you were on track, and want to see proofs, please email me at josh@apexphoto.co.uk .The CD's also include 50ish general pix from the day.

Whilst on the subject, I was considering putting together a large print/poster with a wide shot of the paddock car park surounded by pix of every car that I photographed on trach (without plates). How many of you would be interested?

Josh
