Just finished reading the latest in a long line of threads, that details how a scooby "blew the doors off" this and that yatter yatter yatter.

I was just curious has anybody ever posted when they were the victim or were embarrased by lesser machinery?

Just wondering

I'd say, 'I got thrashed today by a....' is a more common post than 'I blew away a'

I had a BMW 330 lingering around me this morning and was fearful that he might try it on cause I suspect having seen one of these go at crail (despite paper stats) that he'd have taken me 20-100.

I've had me ar$e handed to me by an old Volvo 740 turbo, in one of them red light sorta grand prix.

/J

P.S. 15" wide slicks, 350 hp, and a 100 shot of nitrous did wonders for that old Volvo...

Oh yes - a very very big slow plastic piece of ****. Just sailed on by!

I think he would have won if there was any bashing of metal involved. Plus he looked a pretty huge chap.

Also had a "rude boy" Nova keep up with me once. Had to give him the nod of respect.

Admit to being beat hands down by a nova gsi from about 40mph right upto *cough*130mph*cough* on the a1. It was def a courtney conversion job, or something similiar. He was carrying a passenger, i was not, he also had a fing roof rack on with a canoo strapped to it.

could do nothing but smile when we pulled alongside in traffic.

that was in standard trim before the mods started though.

I had quite a nice drive in my then unmodded Scooby on a road I know reasonably well....

....following a Citroen Berlingo van - he was totally committed to every corner and there is no way I could have passed him.

With about double the power I could not pull away from a Proton Satira GTi more than about half a car length from 30 to 60.

A Focus Zetec could keep up over a very bumpy twisty dry road.

As has been said before it takes a lot of power over a fair time to just leave a committed driver in almost any car.

In the Scooby have also put a fair distance between myself and a TVR and an Evo 6 - could outdrag the E6 on the straights (running big turbo and big boost) he gained a bit on the corners. The TVR was in the wet.

In a Peugeot 406 (3L V6) have outpaced a BMW M3 old shape. I frequently bait Scoobies in the wife's 406

It is the driver ability, who gets on the throttle first and if you miss any gears, and how stupid you are.

My ideal Impreza would have no spoilers and no bonnet scoop and about 350 BHP. I like Q cars.

Had a Clio nearly keep up, there was not much in it and I suspect the only ground I gained was the reaction time of him flooring it after me..

It had had some work done though as it has four exhaust pipes and sounded like a race car..

My old MR2 Turbo used to do my mates two Scoobies.. but they converted me to the slower car in the end!

Overtook an M3 on a dual-carriageway sliproad that was a big windy one that did a 180 degree turn...That was in the wet(very).

He was trying, but I left him in my rooster-tail

1 minute later I noticed him loom into view in my mirrors and let him fly-by on the straight...Veritable dragsters, those things!

Was following a DB7 Vantage on Sunday afternoon. Lovely car. But the best thing was he was actaully 'driving' the car. I was following at, umm, well, the NSL and there was no way I could keep up, but it was good to see that he was happy to 'make progress' in a safe and sensible manner. Think he was as narked off by the plonkers pulling right out in front of him as I was. Awesome car!

I don't know what power you guys are running but all this talk of getting beaten by Nova's, Clios and M3's!!???. Come on guys what's going on. In my 2 and a bit months of ownership of a StiIV Type R which is only running a K&N and a decat pipe and exhaust, I have demolished VR6's, M3 Evo's, Pulsar GTI-R's and a Clio 172 which I couldn't even see in my rear view after about 10 seconds, to name but a few.

In fact I have only been beaten twice. Once by a 600bhp 300ZX (yes £20,000 spent on a 300ZX get's you some serious power)which annihilated me after 60mph and sounded like an airplane when it went past and a 400bhp tuned Skyline R33 GT-R and that was only at the top end. The driver later told me he topped out at 175mph!

Anyway either the Type R is seriously quicker than UK cars (which according to all the posts I read on here isn't necessarily true) or you guys just aren't trying hard enough

It has got to a point where I don't even bother with most of the cars mentioned here except for Renault R5's driven by rude boys. I hate them with a vengeance and will always gladly show one up.

Red face

lol of course the typeR is considerably faster than a UK scoob. It has 60-70 more bhp ffs! and its lighter.

Edited to say your decat n mods adds another 20-30bhp to the above.

Thumbs up

The funniest thing that ever happened to me was when i was *Chased* by two lads in an old Opel Kadett (with roll cage!) when i was taking my kids horse riding. the lane was a series of point and squirt straights with 15mph max hairpin corners. The road was wet and slippery and i wasn't going to overcook it as my STi had no ABS.

I nearly wet myself as i watched in my rear view mirror this Kadett getting more and more broadside out of every bend until the inevitable spin.

Needless to say, i won that one

I find the scooby to be a moody bugger! Sometime I put the foot down and it flys and I know that it would wipe the floor with some serious machinary. Other times the pulling power is a little more hot-hatch like. I guess it depends on all the various factors, heat of the engine, oils, air temps, pressure, etc and then you can factor in driving ability to boot. Even with the scooby I give respect to any hot-hatch. All it takes is him/her to be running a little more power and me to **** up a little and I'd loose.
