Can some1 please rule out the pros and cons of getting an import, not buying an import in the UK but actually ordering and collecting a wrx sti from somewhere in the EU?
Thanks in advance

There are two specs of STI - Europe and Japan. The STI Type UK is the Europe spec plus Alarm, Tracker, and some extra underseal.
Make sure you get Europe Spec otherwise there are differences in spec, transmission components etc.
You shouldn't find any difference in insurance value, but shop around. Make it clear the saving as this means a lower insurance value (they will obviously not insure it for more than you pay). I found no difference to a Type UK.
Be careful re warranty. Any "EEC" supplied car will come with 3 years warranty. There are some European spec cars which are being supplied through non-EEC countries such as Malta or Cyprus (ask the question - you may be talking to a dealer in Holland but he in turn may have sourced through Malta). These cars will only have 12 months warranty, but you can do liek me and negotiate for an extension privately.
Apart from that, I'd say go for it and save a load of dosh. My saving was £4,500 over UK dealer prices for an identical spec i.e. with alarms etc.
Cheers,
Nick
