What does Cat "C" damaged car mean
#1
I've been offered a scooby described as Cat "C" damaged car. I haven't a clue what this means in practice! Wonder if anyone could enlighten me.
The car has been completly repaired.
Regards
John

There are 4 categories of insurance write off. A being the most serious, and D being relatively minor.
A & B vehicles should not be put back on the road and should be crushed, but C and D can be repaired.
This has been discussed before on the bbs - search may help, and the HPI website has a complete description. www.hpi.co.uk
They told me (when looking at a cat D) that I should be looking to spend no more than the vehicle book value less 20-25%%.
Also check that insurance companies will pay out a sensible value (or insure the car at all)
Examine the car VERY thoroughly when you look at it. Preferably not on your own. Not all doom and gloom, it could be a bargain
