Wink

New Models for the next year are normally released in october/november time so there is no problem in that, tyres only last between 12-15k anyway the only thing you need to look out for is if its got a full dealer history, bodycheck done at 12month etc, type of oil used (fully synth better than normal so get some put in )
Just basically check that the last owner looked after the car (even if it has been driven hard) the rest should be ok

Talking

I'm thinking of buying a V reg import on monday and would like some expert input.

1 The car has the OE tyres(Bridgestones),but there nearly bald. It's done 12K does this mean it's been screwed in to the ground.

2 The car also has the 2000 model spec,6 spoke alloys colour coded door handles etc,but it wasn't registed until the back end of Oct 99.Is this to early.

Done the usual stuff hpi, previous owner

Help

bumcrack,

The OE Bridgestone are completely crap, so you need to replace them with Bridgestone SO2. The difference between to two tyres is unbelievable. Is the front passenger tyre worn the most ? This would indicate the car has been driven quickly around roundabouts. Nothing wrong with that!!

I had to replace my first set of tyres at 12k, wear as mentioned above. Rear passenger side worn a bit, drivers side tyres were fine.

Not sure about the 2000 model bought in October 99, but wouldn't think that was a drama.

Is it your first Scooby ?

Remember that Scoobies are almost unbreakable, so don't worry about the car being hammered to much!!

Mines done 15k (in 4 months) and I drive it hard all the time. When I loaned a car from Subaru UK, one of the chaps had a conversation and basically said "I know your going to thrash it, but you won't break it"

Hope this helps, Phill C

My OE's only lasted my 7000miles, so 12,000 ain't too bad.. but then I did screw my car into the ground

aye 12,000 is OK - mine lasted 8500 including 100 miles round the ring ... where they gave some nice progressive slides until they got too hot and then the beastie handled like a pig in a snowstorm....
