Question

I sent off for the Noble M12 GTO brochure a couple of weeks back and have been thinking hard about what I have read.

The car looks absolute value for £45K against the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and TVR to name a few.

I own an heavily modded STI V5 which when totaling buying from new and buying the bits is not far from the list price of the Noble.

I'd really like one, but until the lottery win comes through, there is not a hope

Performance is supposed to be very good, as is the handling

If I had the cash I would

Thumbs up

I haven't driven the M12 but I understand the chassis is very similar to the M10.

I drove Lee Noble's M10 demonstrator about two years ago. Whilst very impressive to drive, the trim and interior put me off. I know the M12 is much better in that respect.

What stayed with me was the astonishing accuracy of the steering and chassis behaviour - I would say better than the Group N Elise which I drove the same year. It all felt so stable, even on bumpy/twisty lanes, and not at all nervous, even at the daft speeds at which it can easily travel. If the M12 blends that level of handling with improved quality of finish and trim, (plus the Porsche Turbo performance which you can see from the road tests), it must be one of the best cars you could buy for anywhere near its price.

If you try it, PLEASE post a report.

I know two Guys who drive one at the weekend, Williams of Bristol had an open day for the Lous Club (they both have Modded Elises)

The car is very very quick, the twin trubos generate huge BHP and Torque and it accellerates like hell on earth. The hadling is sharp, but due to the weight of the car its not "Elise" sharp. Its a great car but prehaps too quick to enjoy on public roads? As its is more Pure sports than say a Porche it beggs to ge spanked, but there is not enough room to spank it. If you have enough cash to do a lot of track days in it it may be ok. Where as a Porche is more Grand Tourer for nice rapid mile munching.

Both the gus I know came away thinking the will keep the elise and spend the exta on track days and mods. However when the new Lotus M250 comes out (2 years?) they may change thier minds.

A mate drove one a few months ago, and said it was absolutely balistic, although the build quality and componets were somewhat to be desired...

lots of fun to be had...!

Coulsdon ,

If I had the money, I think I would go for it - after having a test drive of course (you may just not like it!!).

Scott M8, the way you're going, I'm loosing track but I can think of at least 5 - 7 reasons why your **** is going to soon be encased in Carbonite!!!!!

Give us the RA keys just before it happens and I promise to look after it until the Rebels free you

Yes I think I will have to play this one very carefully.

I think the best way to do this would be to take wifey along to the test drive so she can have dummy Tesco's run in it!!

My M8 Gary (Silver wheels)has just rang me on his mobile from Goodwood, he was standing by a Noble that was on display and he gave me a run thru!!

As expected his report was too good to be true, and now I want one pre test drive!!

A set of front disks for an Esprit turbo is over £1000. It's the running costs that put the super in super car.

Having said that if you get one they say they handle better with even weight distribution ie a passenger.

I've not got much on at the moment so if I can help give me a shout.

SJD Ultima indeed, this takes me back to our rather lagered conversation at Le Mans we had!!

An Ultima would be nice but they are a little bit more expensive I believe. As for performance and looks well that spoke for its self with the few we saw on the way down to Le Sarthe!!

Anyone got any views/experiences on the Ultima in its various forms then??
