Spoke with James at Heritage, Leicester, his mate has already paid for it and is having his done in 2 weeks.

Hoping for a drive, see if £ 1700 + VAT is worth it !!

If his is fitted in 2 weeks, i'm a Dutchman

I am sticking with the oil SUK recommend, on the basis that in the unlikely event that an engine ever let go, it's one less thing to argue the warranty over

HOWEVER we will NOT let them go 10,000 miles in between oil changes - we are going to do an intermediate oil and filter change every 5000 miles.

Why the intermediate change.

surely if you are "sticking to the book" with oil, then why not with the service interval ?

Talking

Because 10,000 miles is way to long to go without an oil change!!! (especially if you drive them like they are intended (like Dave does ))

It's OK, you are preaching to the converted.

BUT if that is the case, why doesn't Subaru recommend an interim change ?

Wouldnt put it past IM to hold PPP back for the MY03 now to give the facelifted STI a better chance and make some spurious reason why it can't be fitted on the existing model - but thats just my being cynical ...or is it.....?

I will do an intermediate oil change because I wouldn't run *any* turbo engine 10,000 miles on the same oil. It's a particularly harsh environment also pumping the oil through the turbo as well as the rest of the engine.

Yes, I know Subaru don't say you should do this, but then we all love to do what SUK say

STI in Japan now recommend the Motul 300v as per the WRC cars for the WRX STI.

I think JohnS had a link to the website with the press release.

I also plan to change the oil every 5k miles and my dealer is more than happy to oblige, even if I supply the oil.

Guys guys guys....

Haven't you got it yet......???

They are waiting for a WRC win so the marketing department can use the huge media interest to create a PPP frenzy.... i can see the headlines now....

..... problem is - are they going to win any rallies this year?????

Just been scanning through for a few weeks now when quiet at work and thought "I know I'll put something in Dave's thread as he needs his posting count boosted"

Still Scoobless , but at least Jason loves the old beast so I know it is in good hands

I'll mail you off line later

And now folks back to the rumour trail about PPP LOL most dealers KNOW it's going ahead but certian of exact dates
I think there'd be BIG SH*TE if PPP failed to happen heads would roll. Subaru with the STi7 have got a great car but needs PPP to make it a Brilliant car

Also Dave mentioned previously Demo's first so to check effects on differing vehicles and try before you buy So first sign of a Demo with PPP and all this speculation will be history

Won't be long now Keep on Drooling Keep saving I also hate dentists but this wait will be worth it

Which Motul 300V are they recomending? All Motul grades are called 300V but you get it in diferent viscosities (5/30, 10/40, 15/50, 15/60, 5/40) . Just out of interest as i use Motul anyway. (15/50)
