All new M5's are v rapid! Above 60 they'll eat most things on the road so don't be disheartened... I only know coz my old man drives one - I still reckon I can 'ave 'im to 40 but he won't try this out (think he's getting too old for all that)

I had a run in with an M coupe the other day and kept up with it to 120, but couldn't close on him.
M5 is a different beast though - 10 seconds to 100 in a straight line though

Interesting...
I had a play with a Hartge modified M3 roadster a couple of weeks ago. Gave him a respectful distance and maintained it, despite his seemingly best efforts.
Given a decent open road, though - those things are dragsters and would probably leave me floundering.
MY99, just SS backbox.

Simply cruising onto an empty 3 lane carriageway and notice a bmw in the mirror flying up behind me on the slip road.
I cruised from the slip road onto the carriageway at about 65mph, deliberately so he could pass if he needed to. Instead he chose to 'tailgate' me, so I decided to have a little fun by booting it in third up to about 90mph.
Could I leave him behind ? No way - in fact he pulled out and flew past me, so much so I'm thinking of getting my car checked to see if all is well! (MY00+PPP+downpipe)
Are all M5's this rapid ?
-DV
NB: I gave the driver a thumbs up, and he waved back, which makes a nice change.
