Question

Okay dokey... I got the P1 just over 3 weeks ago... I've been using Optimax since I've had it.

I have heard of a few aftermarket things you can do to icrease the RON rating in the fule, its an OCTANE BOOSTER... about £15-£20 of your earth pounds to buy...

Q: Is it really worth doing... and will I notice anything different?

Answers on a postcard....

Cheers,
MarkyD

with regard to octane booster I would like to point everyone in the direction of this thread over on Blowdog's BBS.

It is highly technical and has had some fantastic input for those who want to know what octane booster and knock retardation is really all about.

btw, regardless of this thread, I have heard liably the results of NF used on an engine dyno, and it really did make one hell of a difference.

I have used millers with optimax in my MY94 WRX and have noticed a definate difference. How good is NF is it better? I can get Millers for £2.99. Is NF more dosh?

Can I have a few sales pitches please and some views from peeps that have used both.

Thanks
Steve

Steve - I've used all the boosters, and I stick with NF now for my own car. Pleased enough with the product to sell it ! £13 does you 6 tanks full.

If your interested, ring me on 01565 621 617.

Steve

Try the P1 on super unleaded for a couple of tanks - my P1 noticeably loses bottom end grunt on Optimax so now avoid it like the plague. I'm not an expert but I understand the ECU isn't mapped for fuels much beyond 97 RON.

Interested to hear whether you notice a difference.

Question

I noticed that my P1 seems to skip a few beats on Optimax, its most annoying, its like a stutter - thing is Optimax is better as it gives me more MPG I believe. Will NF OB enhance Optimax ? Also think Super is probably the best fuel.

I can't resist a(nother) octane booster thread!!

I use NOS. It works. Very well. Better than Millers. Much better.

NOS only increases the RON by 0.6 tho, so in theory Millers Should be Better.

Question

Iv'e always used silkolene proboost & it makes a big difference you can really feel the torque come back. Because everyone raves about NF formula i bought some as i had ran out of proboost & was just using optimax. Have been using it for over a week & personally its made no difference what so ever, It just feels like im running on optimax alone. Pro boost if spilt evapourates very quickly, NF is like an oily substance & doesnt evapourate. Do i have a bad batch ? or just doesn't suit my car ?

DeanF -

See the thread listed above about NF + Optimax, I'm not convinced it helps Optimax at all. SUL + NF is another matter, IMHO
