Is there any way of increasing the tension of the springs that counter balance the boot lid? Have a STI V spoiler and because of the extra weight the boot closes really hard if you are not careful.

I should like an answer to this also. I have a WRX MY02 and on releasing the boot catch the boot hardly opens. I`ve tried greasing the hinges, spring attachment points etc but that has made no difference. There does not appear to be any adjustment you can easily make.

If it's the STi 7 you are talking about then yes, you can buy some uprated torque bars which are designed to work with the Prodrive Style rear spoiler. They are about £50 from your dealer.
