bonnet scoop "a la" STI
#1
Hello there
I have a MY01 since January 10. Its a great improvement because I had a Passat tdi 110.
2 times more hp : Moore rules ! ! !
I've seen the new STI MY01 and I noticed that the bonnet scoop is bigger. I would like to replace mine for this model.
Is it availlable ? Where ? How much ?
PS. This BBS really rocks.
We also have one

Actually the new intercooler on the standard WRX is not as wide as the scoop itself, there is a secondary duct there that funnels air onto the turbo housing. If you examine the intercooler mounting points, there are also spots to mount the wider STi intercooler, which fills the entire scoop and eliminates the secondary ducting.

I wonder if all 2002 WRX have light weight bonnet as standard these days. I remember back in the pre-2001 days, only STi's and Japanese spec WRX have the aluminium hood that you can easily lift with one finger (I have one of these on my Japan spec '98).
I wish you the best in getting the STi I/C bonnet scoop. I hope youo dont have to replace the entire bonnet. For the first time in the WRX/STi history, Subaru has made the STi intercooler bigger than the WRX's so might as well your scoop project turns into a cooling improvement one to complement the bigger I/C next, whether an STi or aftermarket.

Hi Jan,
Just to answer your question, all new WRX's get the alloy lightweigt bonnet now. Not like before when it was only the STI's.
Regards,
WREXY.
P.S. I'm still waiting for my Knocklink to arrive.

Hello El Crichon,
I too have noticed the STI bonnet scoop is bigger, I guess it is only a matter of time before the STI scoop is available to us. If it is going to require a bigger intercooler then I'm sure someone can manufacture an aftermarket STI look scoop. It may even improve performance as the extra cooling always helps!
